Okay, but you named a freshman and when I named a sophomore you claimed that you were talking about this year and I somehow moved the goal post.

I don’t think most SEC schools have more elite prospects so we can disagree there.
I would agree that their are a few that have more than we do but the gap has closed significantly hence our standings in the SEC.

Even a place like Kentucky has the hagenow kid that is a first round type talent. The next two years are huge for him, Tidwell and plenty of other elite talented arms in the SEC. I’d feel
Better about the Vols if they had another elite talented young arm or two but I don’t see them right now

Losing Leath is going to prove to be a big blow to this team.

I would too. Vitello has Burns signed though and hopefully he makes it to campus. Only so much he can do with 11.7 in such a short amount of time. It usually takes 6 or 7 years to get to where we are unless you have the scholarships to hand out like Vandy and Virginia.

Everyone would feel better if Leath and Joyce hadn’t had season ending injuries. Just imagine this team with Leath (93-96) and Joyce (95-100). Vitello had the prospects/arms we needed, bad luck they got injured.

Leath was a huge loss. Joyce not so much. Huge arm but never has gotten results

But he would have been a 200k arm I agree even with a high era he would have had

We never got to see him after an off season with Anderson. He wasn’t upper 90’s either at Walters and he touched 100 mph multiple times at our fall scrimmages. He would have been a huge weapon out of the pen with 100 mph even if it was for 1 inning or 1 batter.
Would have been a sight to see him trotting out there in the 7th today.

Yeah Leath would be huge for us , but there’s no crying in baseball, gotta move.

Last Factoid: 10 SEC teams have an RPI 31 or better. It’s meaningless if you haven’t kept up with the other factoids.
