The Official #5 Tennessee vs. #22 Ole Miss Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, SEC Network

Zeigler set him up the entire game. He caught the ball and dunked it or had something close to the rim. Had a couple nice post ups too. When Ole Miss went small, Barnes had them force it in the paint whether it was for Aidoo or Awaka. Check out Awaka's line....9 pts in only 11 minutes. Lastly when we missed shots, we got 19 offensive rebounds. ZZ, the rebounding disparity, we shared the ball well (25 assists on 34 buckets), great contribution from Mashack off the bench and finally making our open shots in the 2nd half led to the result.

Let's go take of Miss. St. in Starkville.
The Hump. … preggie?

I think
I see a lot of comments about playing the 2nd string/young guys in the last 6-8 minutes of this game and I normally agree with everyone.
However, the top guys were playing so well, on both ends, that I think it’s good to let them feel what being locked in is like as much as possible. I mean they were clicking offensively, defensively, and on comms!
Moving forward I think it’s imperative that JP and Dillione are able to contribute 5-10 minutes without hurting team.
Barnes may have finally figgered it out. Gotta condition that critical 7-8.

It is really strange that we have one of the best home football environments in all of college football in basically every SEC game, but our basketball arena is like a church or morgue for some conference games.

I think the only way you could fix it is if you gave the students more prominent seats in the lower bowl behind the benches of the teams like how some schools do it, but Danny White is never going to piss off the donor class and do that. So I’m not sure if you can fix it.
Piss them off for a year…and create the Colusium!

1969 - until Vietnam. Of which I did not enlist. (An entirely other story re: Nixon, Billy Graham, thrown eggs and judicial "justice"). I tell you that Animal House was a pale comparison to those days. Growing pot on the roof, hallucinogens rampant, FBI acting as "maintenance workers", arson charges for setting fire to the SAE house with bottle rockets, Phil Fulmer drunk as a skunk 'gatoring" (flopping around on an alcohol-slushed floor) in the basement. ATO athletes and friends balling in the "Pastor's Study" - up the stairs, turn right, down the hall to the end on the right where they could enter the side doors - , playing BBall out back, jumping the fence and having orgies on the baseball field....ok that's enough for now. :)
I recall bottle rockets at the Watergate during NAIMUN ‘79. Rascally bunch we were…

I ain’t taking my cup off… 😇

LOL and I like the cup reference because not that many guys (under 25-30 years old?) have ever had a reason to wear one. In the USA, it's just hockey players, baseball catchers and lacrosse players and of those most wear compression shorts that have a pocket for it to slide into and it's longer and narrower than the old school (traditional ones). I played lacrosse in high school and my first year of college.

I like your new profile picture .... AND that you change your picture from time to time.

You, Knoxvol, Preacherman and a couple other posters that I like, cross my mind from time to time because you've always been nice and accepting of me and don't make obvious assumptions about me based on my age.

Anyway ..... Here's my idea. I think there are a fair number of posters here that don't require much sleep or can't sleep so they check in on Volnation several times a day. I am one of those people and I haven't been here very long. For whatever reason, I haven't needed much sleep as most people for the past 4-5 years. Without much effort, I can stay up for two days and did so for most of high school. My dad is the same way. I know he's up right now and it's 4:40 AM Sunday.

So I was thinking....... MAYBE Volnation needs an Insomniacs chat room that wouldn't be that much different than this particular forum, but I'd prefer it to be even more relaxed than this one and that people COULD discuss politics if they wanted to. IDK, that's just a random thought, but I think it would be nice if late at night I, we or you could just click on one link in your toolbar and instantly be in the Insomniacs Forum.

Maybe one of it's features could be long posts like this post where posts are in long form. I think long exchanges of ideas are important because that's when or how we actually get to know each other better. For example, some people here have a long term illness or their spouse does and it could be a repository for that kind of sharing or story telling. ie I'd like it Preacherman shared or eventually shared what the life of a relief pitcher is like as well as what percentage of his son's total cost is for him to attend UT is because I think people would be surprised and not AS impressed if they knew what I know about a student athletes at Tennessee or Georgia Tech.

I've babbled enough and the Sunrise isn't too long from now because my best friend/college roommate woke up, saw that I was wide awake so we talked for a while. He went down stairs to make some coffee, but my dad already did, so I guess we're starting the day now.

Give my idea some thought, otherwise, just post how you're doing or whatever you feel like discussing, if anything.

Warm regards.

A great win but I sure would like to see more of Estrella and Philips

In a game like this, I think everyone who isn't a redshirt should get some game minutes. It's not like the end result was in doubt in the last 10 minutes of the game. It's actually good for the player and the team because coming of the bench, ice cold something they could be getting used to AND you never know when a starter or 2nd string guy is going to be unavailable to play, so games like today/yesterday's is an opportunity to get them some practice doing that.

One of the things I liked about the game was that UT had 8 players that played 10 or more minutes which translates to less overuse injuries in February, March and April.

I knew we were kicked off campus till 2026 or so but I was not pleased to see our house had been given away. Don’t appreciate seeing different letters on the ATO house.

Noticed that the KAs were also gone

I put that pic on FB ATO lot of ppl were less than happy to hear of it. Can't lay blame , we dodged the kill shot. Somehow my roommate who was elected Prez decided it was a good idea to drop acid. Tried to hide in the coat room from the Head ATO dude from National, that worked out well. 🤣 Have no idea why they cut us slack other than we had 100 plus members and were paying our bills.

Pot smoking got so rampant we had to limit it to the apartment downstairs where the House Mother used to live. We kicked her out to make it available 🤪 The football team 'heads' would show up, get high, and wobble back to Gibbs.

The KAs were not well regarded, the Civil War Confederacy garb and all.

It is strange that we only played 8 guys last night and Zeigler played 37 minutes. I’d be interested in why that was the case.
Yes, I wondered that as well. Possibly because the flow was so darn good, both offensively and defensively, Barnes just wanted to keep the continuity going to see just how well they could play and finish. They played a complete game, start to finish.

I hate Ole Miss. My wife and I were so thrilled to see that ass whipping. And her brother was a team captain on the Ole Miss football team.
They would roll into Memphis to play Tiger High all shiny and pretty and red n white n blue...and damn good under Johnny Vaught. May have been the last time they won a Natty.
