The Official #5 Tennessee vs. #22 Ole Miss Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, SEC Network

They would roll into Memphis to play Tiger High all shiny and pretty and red n white n blue...and damn good under Johnny Vaught. May have been the last time they won a Natty.
Yeah, they rolled in to town with one of Freeze's better teams and went home with their tails between their legs. SEC teams don't like playing Memphis, because there's always a chance you're going to lose. Memphis usually has enough talent in hoops and football to beat an unmotivated SEC team. We were at the Manning game in Memphis. It was shocking. I hate it that Memphis and Tennessee aren't playing in basketball, but Penny screwed that up. They have as much talent as Tennessee, but are not nearly as well coached and disciplined.

I recall bottle rockets at the Watergate during NAIMUN ‘79. Rascally bunch we were…
Rocks in snowballs was the Hess equalizer for fraternity bros. Man Knoxville was fun in the 1970s and 1980s. Never forget them bringing Michael Jackson into Neyland in a Wells Fargo truck. Chicken dancing at Brew Haus while World’s Fairing. Springsteen, Skynyrd, Nugent, and Elvin Bishop at the Coliseum. Upper class teaching freshmen how to shotgun tall boys with a nail. Now that is an education.

I put that pic on FB ATO lot of ppl were less than happy to hear of it. Can't lay blame , we dodged the kill shot. Somehow my roommate who was elected Prez decided it was a good idea to drop acid. Tried to hide in the coat room from the Head ATO dude from National, that worked out well. 🤣 Have no idea why they cut us slack other than we had 100 plus members and were paying our bills.

Pot smoking got so rampant we had to limit it to the apartment downstairs where the House Mother used to live. We kicked her out to make it available 🤪 The football team 'heads' would show up, get high, and wobble back to Gibbs.

The KAs were not well regarded, the Civil War Confederacy garb and all.
The KAs sure gave Bo Jackson the business when he came to play baseball, right in their backyard. I’m sure their bit wouldn’t be tolerated today

So how do we go about getting another house? Are we off campus now or totally defunct?

The Manning game was atrocious. Fulmer played it so conservatively just hoping on hope we would squeak by. Didn't we almost lose the previous or following year until C. J. Fayton bailed us out with a 4th down catch that ended up being a game winning drive? Liked Phil but brother he could be thick headed. Peyton was seriously pissed 😤

I don't know. That location was the premier spot for sure with loads of parking and in easy sight of Volunteer Blvd. Bus stopped at the corner too. Anywhere else imo is a downgrade.

Tough week coming up. Two road games. And two teams you should beat but they’re on the road so you can’t take anything for granted if last year taught us anything at all.

Need to go 2-0.
Hard to image such a veteran team relaxing for conference road games. We might lose, but seriously doubt it will be from a lack of focus or intensity. JMO

I don’t think we’ll relax as a team. I meant more as a fanbase last year I think on average we kind of expected games like Florida and Vandy to be easy W’s because those were not good teams and then reality set in.

Nothing is easy on the road in conference play.

Every knowledgeable fan like yourself knows there’s rarely an easy in conference road game.

Nobody will agree but a split in these next two games is not even a bad result. Being a team that holds serve at home and is slightly above .500 on the road gives you a good chance to finish on top in a deep league.

Manning was in 96, and I believe the game you are referring to was in 99. Bobby Graham caught a long pass late to score.

Memphis had what seemed like two decades where they had a great defense but struggled to score. I went to a home guy as a kid where we saw Ken Irvin set the record for most punt blocks. He had 4 against Arkansas, and Memphis won. It was nuts, and I think someone has now tied it.

You're right ✅️ my memory is as good as my sexual stamina. Sometimes non-existent 😀

Kesling was urging fans during the broadcast last night to grab as many tickets as they could for the Georgia game at Athens.

Tonight is was Aidoo for awhile, Z, Mashack,Awaka…….who is next??

I can't believe I'm saying this but Aidoo looked better than I've ever seen from him. I don't want to get ahead of myself because we'd compliment ORN in the past then he'd disappear the next game. I thought everyone else added something whether it was scoring, defense, etc. All around quality effort. It was nice seeing Vescovi drain some shots. JJJ seems more aggressive attacking the rim than I've seen.

Bwaa-ha-ha. I love a guy that can make fun of himself
Dog, i'm old. I have learned many things the most important is that I'm old...Wait, that's not what I meant to say but I'm old. When i can remember, that I'm old, I also reflect that the funniest person I have ever known is me. Did I mention that I am old? I ferget,

“Can’t” was too strong of a word to use. Knecht is clearly a good player. He’s also clearly struggling now that the opponents are putting him as the focal point on defense. So far, he’s not proven he can rise above that but I’m sure pulling for him.
"Not proven"? SMDH

I'm old, too. I get it. My nickname, The Dog, originated because how I tried to pick up women at the bar and how I rebounded playing basketball. I do neither now and my old a$$ is happy with that.
