Not predicting anything whatsoever, but Mashack reminded me of Nicky Anosike today. Candace Parker rightly got a ton of accolades, but it was Nicky’s hustle plays and rebounding that put the Lady Vol’s over the top for those back-to-back championships in ‘07-‘08, imo.

Wish we had someone half as dominant as Candace though. GOAT imo

That was, purely and simply, one of the greatest games in Tennessee basketball history. There isn’t much that needs to be said beyond that. What an amazing game, amazing finish, and amazing win. Feels like March.

The ONLY one that comes to mind was when Justus hit his only basket of the game on a jumper from the foul line extended (courtesy of John Ward) to beat I believe it was Florida. That has been a while. Saw it from my front row seat in the ORANGE TIE SECTION at Stokely.

That’s not what I said. And refs making themselves the story clearly means they’re gonna insert themselves consistently, which they obviously did. Meanwhile you said this team wasn’t clutch

The 5 second on the inbound was absolutely huge as well. I’m 99% sure the refs were going to call a foul if the guy threw it in.

How bout Mashack.

He won this game in a big way not just the final shot. He had the box out position on the missed free throw and got fouled. He made his two free throws to tie. He then tied the ball up resulting in an inbound. He denied Sears the corner 3 resulting in 5 second call, and then he made the buzzer beating 3 to win. Way to go Mashack.

Mashack was definitely clutch in the last 30 seconds. Beats guy who doesn’t block out, makes 2 big FTs, ties up on other end for a jump ball and hits a 35 footer. Our lack of execution otherwise in the last 4 minutes was not good.

Now that you put it that way, it may be the most complete FINAL 30 seconds in VOL BB history.
