The Official #6 Tennessee @ #9 Arizona Game Thread, 10:30 PM ET, ESPN2

We really dominated the stats or, well even, other than their 8 rebound advantage. We had a higher fg%, barely and 4 more shots made. 3 more threes, more steals, less turnovers. They had more blocks, one more assist and offensive rebound. Wait tho, here is the kicker, +16 free throws made and +17 ft attempted.

Can Barnes get this game looked at by NCAA and have it a No Contest since the refs were obviously showing favoritism? Keep our record at 1 loss. Arizona was allowed to play prison rules in this game while we weren’t. This was the worst officiated game I’ve seen us in this season.

I’m not surprised Arizona won this game mainly because Tennessee was abysmal for threes in the 2nd half so the whole great effort making the game close was fruitless, and because this was in Arizona.
Also because this was a revenge game for the Arizona Wildcats because last sea the Volunteers had a great upset outplaying a Wildcats team in Rocky Top.

I still have the SportsCenter highlights of that unforgettable amazing game on my Phone which I’ll upload to my YouTube channel.

I’m proud the Volunteers showed great effort in the adversity game to game it winnable instead of just quitting because they’re down 10 points on the road to a great Wildcats team.

I know moral victories AKA Close Losses are the most bitter defeats because the objective is to win the game not get the happiness of losing a winnable game because the game was close.

I’m disappointed the Volunteers lost a winnable game to the Wildcats mostly because of the abysmal missing more than 3 threes in the 2nd half, and because Tennessee failed to defend when they had opportunities to either tie the game or take the lead.

I’m a lot less unhappy for this disappointing defeat to a great Arizona Wildcats team because my Rocky Top Volunteers showed a champion performance since they did trail by 10 however they didn’t quit competing, reduced the Wildcats lead which gave the Volunteers the advantage of tying the game or taking the lead.

Adversity reveals character, and the 2022-2023 Volunteers Basketball team showed they are champions because they didn’t give the hell up vs a great Arizona Wildcats team in Arizona.

@SDV

The Arizona Wildcats cheerleaders from what I could see are babes wearing sports bras, and short skirts.
I didn’t see the 1st half so if they were shown dancing I missed that.

They are as hot as the Arizona heat.

Someday this decade I’ll see a Washington Huskies Arizona Wildcats Mens Basketball game in Arizona.
I’ll be wearing a Purple Washington Huskies hat, a Washington Huskies Purple t-shirt, and premium jeans either Wrangler Regular Fit that I have or the GoodFellow jeans I have which are a light shade of blue.

Unfortunately it also reveals a lack of it as demonstrated by SOME posters on here en mass. Just like on the court, sometimes it is not the easily seen missed shot that is the root of the problem, but not passing on it. Knowing that every program has them is no more consoling than the opportunity to review the box score. Both are out there for review, and they don't get better with age. Oddly many can accept bad performance on these boards in the heat of action but not on the court.

Was it really possible that the amount of contact around the basket was equally allowed or not allowed on both ends of the court? Was Phillips not whacked on any of those point blank shots that did not even touch the rim? They let some of ours get by, but ALL or theirs in the first half.

That said they did hit a bunch of tough shots when fouls were not in question and we did not. I don't know how an equally called game would turn out, but as always our guys deserved a chance to find out.

The presence of bias was punctuated the very end when Key was body slammed on that rebound 4 feet and directly in front of the official and NADA. No rational human could justify a play on there. I guess they knew they were caught when Barnes addressed not one, not two, but all three officials without getting tagged for a T.

I hope our post game report diminishes these guys shots at officiating in the big dance, when their body of work is fatal.

I also have never saw a team as classless as arizona. A bunch of cocky players on their team. Acted as if they have never won a game before.
Kerr needs a foot in the a**. Z owned him all night and had it been a game in the park Z would've whooped his azz as well.

Thought the zebras did their best home cooking job, and had it been a bit more evenly called the Vols may have squeaked a road win out. Having said that too it will be nice to see our 5 star Frosh start scoring again.

If JJJ does come back I hope he doesn’t struggle too badly. We are already limited on offense so if he comes back can’t hit shots that will only make the offense worse. The trade off will be his defense and rebounding which we miss right now.

No they aren’t. They’ll be out in the the second round.
Look at North Carolina last season, all that really matters is that you play well enough to get in the tournament, then you have to get hot at the right time. This team is capable of winning it all if they get hot during the big dance.

I laugh at the posters saying Barnes was not working the refs. I don’t think they understand that the camera is not on him the whole game. Oh, he’s working them, and if they sat a row or two behind the bench, they would realize just how much.

Most who believe Barnes doesn’t work the refs over the course of a game fail to recognize that it wouldn’t be beneficial for a Barnes to go absolutely nuts and pick up a technical foul, especially after Uros did us the favor of picking up a tech three minutes into the game.

You forgot UT had a Lot more fouls.

If he’s hitting open shots and shooting near 40% from three then I think he’s one of our best all around options. Problem is, he isn’t doing that. Shooting around 25% from three this year. And is no threat to drive past anyone. Meshak is a better option offensively if those numbers continue.

SV is passing up good shots early in clock for forced shots late in clock. That hurts his %.
