The Official #6 Tennessee @ #9 Arizona Game Thread, 10:30 PM ET, ESPN2

Those stats are awful for both teams. We shouldn’t have been less awful.
Again, UT shot a better % than they did on 3’a and FG’s. They also made more shots than Arizona. UT also had less turnovers. The only reason why Zona won is the 27 free throws they was gifted to our 10. We had 2 fouls in front of refs to end the game was not called. Vescovi was fouled and Key was blown up in loose ball. After last year and we blew Arizona out and refs called it 1 way, the refs was sure to return the favor tonight.

So Vescovi didn’t go 2-12 from the field? Did he miss an open crucial shot down the stretch?
Obviously he didnt shoot well tonight. And obviously we didnt win. While your post was obvious and thus not contributing anything, it was also true, so I must have not meant it was stupid. So I must have meant it was douchey. It was because I cant see why someone would crap on a player who has contributed to alot of big wins at Tennessee and is currently gutting through an injury by singling out one post in a thread of hundreds celebrating that players milestone by pointing out he was generally off tonight, even if he didnt have the excuse of a bum shoulder. Anyway, I dont know why I'm engaging with you, you dont post here except dumb overreactions and non-sequiturs in the game threads any time we go down by more than two

So, if you scream, cuss and holler at the officials they're going to call the game differently. Silly to think that way.

It’s become a trend for Phillips to disappear in big games. Kansas only scored 4, Maryland only scored 6, Colorado only scored 6, and 2 tonight. (ofc the outlier game being 25 vs USC) He’s got to score 12+ a night for us to win ballgames.

We don't look like we have a good offense but it's not scheme. It's players not playing good offense right now. We don't have that one guy that the other team just can't stop when he's on.
I thought if JJJ was healthy that he would be that guy, but clearly I was so wrong about him being able to stay healthy lol

It ain’t my money so it is easy for me to say this, but just once I’d like to see some fire from Rick in the post-game press conference about poor officiating. Might cost him $25,000 but that’s a drop in the bucket of his salary. Defend your guys. That is PATHETIC officiating tonight. Arguably way more one-sided than the game in Knoxville last year people were complaining about.
National media will be dead silent about the officiating tonight. They talked nonstop about it in the game last year and in the lead up to tonight’s game.

Often when coaches begin to challenge officiating early in games, it can have adverse effects on the players. They start making excuses and quit trying. I think Barnes approaches poor officiating diplomatically throughout the game, thinking he can have a positive influence while maintaining the fight in his team. Tennessee fought throughout the game enough to win it. The officials weren’t allowing Tennessee win this game tonight.

interesting…. Because we had every chance to win tonight.
In hindsight yes but I dont think im alone in thinking before the game that a win tonight was an extremely tall order. And even if Scov was the difference in a win or loss IF the trade off is his shoulder doesnt get the recovery time it needs, I still wouldnt make that trade. Now thats a big if, I dont have any insight and maybe its just a pain management thing. I just know a loss tonight doesnt hurt us in any significant way but Santi being hobbled for a long stretch certainly will

We missed 3 wide open jumpers with a chance to take the lead towards the end. We get quality looks, they’re just not all gonna fall.

They can’t hear you. They’re deaf and believe that “ people make mistakes” but the officials actions don’t affect the outcome.

It’s like he’s the one guy you can’t criticize. He didn’t just miss, he clanked it off the backboard. He played terrible offensively, and has for most of the year.
We desperately need him to get healthy, maybe even moreso than JJJ
