The Official #6 Tennessee vs. Florida Game Thread, 5:00 PM ET, ESPN2

I'm so grateful Dalton Knecht chose Tennessee 😭

I feel like I'm watching a mix of Larry bird and Kobe Bryant
Easy now…He’s a special offensive player but both those guys led their teams on offensive and defensive ends of the court. I think a Knecht SEC comp would be Razorback Joe Johnson from a few years back.

Vescovi is the only player that looks disconnected with the play of this team... Vescovi is and has been a great Vol... But he needs to figure out his role and get out of his feelings and do what it takes.... His body language wasn't good for the team... We are gonna need him

Disconnected? He’s in a funk but that’s not at all what’s going on. He was +20 on Saturday against Georgia. His defense continues to be elite and he’s doing a lot of other things well that don’t show up on a stat sheet.

I agree that we need more juice from him offensively, but I don’t think he is disconnected from his team.

I only saw the second half, but I didn’t see any bad body language from him. He looks like a guy who is a smart enough basketball player and a selfless enough basketball player to be willing to feed the hot hand and contribute in other ways.

I would like for him to shoot at a better clip. He’s 8-23 from the field in conference play, but he’s done other things to contribute and hasn’t shown any signs that I’ve seen of being resistant to accepting his current role.

On nights where DK is feeling it, we’re going to feed him. Everyone else having their shots reduced doesn’t appear to cause any issues amongst the team. Now, the question is when DK has a night where shots aren’t falling-and it will happen-can SV and/or JJJ step up to fill the void? I’m not sure if we know for sure yet. Aidoo and ZZ have shown that they can score with some consistency for the most part, but we really need at least one of SV and JJJ to find some consistency.

You've hit on it. There will be games when strong teams/defenders hound Knecht, and in those games our other guys--specifically JJJ and Vescovi--have to be ready to step up. It's great to a have a go-to guy, so long as he shares the ball when necessary and other guys are ready and able to score themselves. We don't want to become too unbalanced.

He's working his tail off defensively---all credit to him--and we're a better team because of his defensive work. Would we all like to see
him shooting and scoring a bit more, as we know he can? Yes, as we want everybody ready and able to score when the shots are there.

Seigler and Aidoo have been Knecht's scoring mates for much of this season so far and Tennessee will need James and Vescovi to step up their offensive performances at some point this season.

Being annoyed he gets fouled constantly and nothing is called while also getting called for touch fouls his defenders are allowed to do for 5 years probably has annoyed him.

I'm not hating on Vescovi... He seems to be having the harder time adjusting to the new offense.... Which is faster and DK being more ball dominant and Vescovi taking less shots... He seems to be struggling with his role... Mashack seems to fit better with the new offense... Vescovi just seems to be pressing more instead of finding his way

Nobody gonna shoot consistently with 1 or 2 shots a half. The offense is more dribble-drive than drive & kick out as in years past.

I just can’t disagree enough with this. The only thing he’s struggling with is his shots falling. Not disconnected, not struggling with his new role. We need his perimeter accuracy BAD!

True. He is constantly given the short end of the stick on 50/50 calls. Hate it for him. He sits on the bench for a lot of the first half with 2 fouls way too often.

Decent crowd since students still @ break along with poor weather, but half capacity at best.

Right now, Dillione reminds me of Edwards, not sure if its they're both wore #1 or the tentativeness, they both play with. Maybe with more playing time the comfort & confidence level will rise, and he will shine.
I think Dilione played fine today in particular in the 1st half. Had 2 assists in only 6 minutes. Had one bad turnover and one defensive lapse but we need him to spell ZZ some minutes. I think we will continue to see him earn these minutes and show flashes of why folks have high hopes for him as he gains more confidence.

I think this has something to do with Vescovi's offensive production drop-off. Now Vescovi plays a support role on offense by driving and finding open shooters. It's like he is playing as a second point guard.

I’m a little red assed because I just turned on the game (which was recorded to my dvr). It is Pitt Syracuse. 😡🤬🥵

@Freak - are you going to be putting up a replay of this beat down on your channel? 🙏
