The Official #6 Tennessee vs. LSU Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, SEC Network

He’s right about Vescovi, but Carr isn’t 20% the player Vescovi is at this point. Only way Vescovi loses minutes is if Barnes starts sitting him for turning down open shots, and Gainey will get those extra minutes.
Agreed. Carr ain’t passing up on any shot… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s an NBA thingie…

I hope you’re wrong about 5-4. That would put us at 12-6 which would be A major disappointment for this team. Im still thinking that 14-4 will be the best record in our conference. Go Vols!
I think the teams with the highest chance to finish 14-4 are Alabama and Auburn. I feel like Auburn is the better team but Alabama’s schedule sets up well for them. We can definitely finish 14-4 but I think it all comes down to how we do in these next 5 games vs teams in the bottom half of the SEC. If we go 5-0, we’re in a very good spot!

We caught a break tonight with Cook not playing for LSU. That allowed us to really hound Wright and frustrate him. He went to bench twice tonight frustrated and pounding a chair. We really kept him in check and ran him off the 3 point line and made him drive it.

And we should go 5-0.

A&M’s MO is to rebound and get to the FT line. You know they will get a crazy favorable whistle at home just like last year. We have to attack the paint and get to the line ourselves.

Tennessee has to set the tone early. Establish from the get go that we’re a tougher team than A&M. Do that, and I think A&M will have a really hard time beating us.

Yes, I agree Auburn is the better team. They foul 50 times at home but only get called for 15 of them. I hope we smack them in the mouth when we play them.

I really believe that Auburn will play a game that will take 3 hours to play. lol. They are the Detroit Pistons of college basketball.

The only consistent problem this team has had is giving up way too many offensive rebounds and second chance points. Without those, tonight's game is a 25 point blowout that never gets close. It has to be frustrating as hell to have a great defensive possession and give up an easy second chance layup. This is something that has to get cleaned up before March.

Other than that there's little not to like (maybe a bit more FT consistency). Defense has been lights out, everyone is humming on offense but SV, and I have a feeling he will get it going like JJJ has. When Gainey is hitting 3's, this offense is pretty much impossible to defend. And how great is it to finally have a guy to give it to and simply say "go get us a bucket"?

not really

I don't understand Santi. Passed up a couple wide open shots. His
confidence must be shot.

Hope Santi and Aidoo get it together soon. We really need them both
to make a deep run in March.

Santi needs to shoot the ball or he needs to sit. No excuse to pass up the shots he turned down tonight. Gainey played major minutes tonight because of this. Gainey played well.
I have been down on Gainey. I was wondering if he was good enough to play in the SEC. He looks like he is starting to get his confidence back on his shot. It may have just taken a while to adjust to SEC play.
