The Official #6 Tennessee vs. LSU Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, SEC Network

Carr can't match Vescovi on defense, but if he starts hitting shots, that might be enough to snag more of Vescovi's minutes. Really didn't expect this from Vescovi when he decided to saddle up for one more ride at UT. Thought he'd make it a season to remember. I also felt the attention defenses were giving to Knecht would open things up for Vescovi. Thought he'd put up some really good numbers, but it's as if he's just turned spectator on the offensive end. He's just lost all aggressiveness offensively. Very disappointing, but he's playing well on defense so there's that.
Another way of looking at it is how fning impressive is it for a guy to KNOW his scoring and offensive output is going to take a dip and to not just agree to defer, but continue to play Volsout knowing you COULD be the man somewhere.

No offense, but I don’t think you’re equipped to appreciate what he contributes besides pts.

Barnes tolerated DK going 1 on 5 during that 13-0 LSU run. Sometimes he has to take responsibility. Call a TO & change the offense.
First it’s impossible for DK to go 1-5 in a 13-0 LSU run because that means Tennessee scored. Second, DK missed 2 free throws and had a turnover during the 13-0 run. Stat wise DK was 0-0 during the 13-0 run that took score from 70-47 to 70-60

bama’s remaining schedule looks very manageable…we might have to win out in order to win the conference. If we keep playing like this then anything’s possible.
I just reviewed schedules for Bama, Auburn, Jr, and TN. USC Jr may drop two (one to TN) while Bama and Auburn may only drop one more.

If that’s the case, then TN can only lose one more for a three way tie to occur.

I don’t see us running the table and most likely we lose to @ Bama and one more game. We have the most daunting schedule of the four teams listed above.

I'd take 7-2 right now and be thrilled. I think we go 6-3 but honestly, I wouldn't be shocked at 5-4 down the stretch.
I hope you’re wrong about 5-4. That would put us at 12-6 which would be A major disappointment for this team. Im still thinking that 14-4 will be the best record in our conference. Go Vols!

FWIW he said 1 on 5. As in DK was trying to drive or score over the entire D instead of moving the ball.

Vescovi needs to be joining him! His offense has become a shell of prior seasons, passing up way too many open perimeter looks? We can’t be our best without SV confidently shooting 3’s.

In Vescovi’s defense, I think he’s playing great in everything except perimeter shooting. He finishing the drives in the lane better. Passing well and being crafty with the ball leading to assists. Rebounding, defense, and steals/deflections are all good. Hope he finds confidence in his stroke soon!

Carr played pretty poorly today - even had a timeout taken to remove him from the game. I think he’s only going to be used when we’re up huge this year. He has all the potential but he just hasn’t quite gotten there with his 3PT or defense. He’ll get there next year

Vescovi’s defender never leaves him. Take him out & you’ll get more congestion in the lane. If they’re hitting 3s like tonight, it’s not a problem but when they’re not, it can hurt the offense

Everyone needs to remember, that A@M and Arkansas were pre season top 5 picks in the conference. These games will not be easy and they will be grind it out games. But if we truly are the best team in the conference we need to put our big boy shorts on and get these next two road games. Defense and rebounding needs to travel for these next two. Santi needs to shoot the ball. I think everyone else will be okay.
Unless something changes fast, Arkansas will finish bottom 3 in the league. They’re currently in shambles.

Santi had plenty of opportunities to shoot tonight. He just ball faked and passed the ball. He’s veteran player, he needs to start playing like that in the second half of the conference schedule. Come on Santi, everyone believes in you!
