The Official #7 Tennessee @ #12 Georgia Game Thread, 7:30 PM ET, ABC

Well that sucked!

1) LOS penalties: about 6 -0, about 3 motion calls, about 3 offsides calls
2) Penalties: UGA hardly had any. We had several bs calls like that facemask
3) Blown plays kept UGA on the field
4) Unfortunately Carson Beck picked the wrong game to come out of his slump.
5) Pass defense, the motions and such just took us out of our game.
6) Pass rush: or lack there of
7) Explosive plays: 1 Sampson run
8) Not responding to UGA aggressive defense: maybe some TE passes or something to stop their blitzes

With Heupel’s offensive staff and the lack of development in the oline, I just don’t see the Vols moving up to the next level.

Heupel won’t stand up against the officials and he will never get a call - Heupel has made generational wealth and he owes it to his team to call the officials out. He can certainly pay the fine - get a pair.
Heupel cussed the refs tonight. I saw it many times.

I think that at the beginning of the year you would have said that you would be happy with 10-2:)
True. But I also thought Oklahoma and NC State would be good wins.

I’m just frustrated as it appears the playoffs won’t happen. We have a 54% chance now.

Oregon
Penn state
Ohio state
Indiana - even if they lose to Buckeyes.

Bama
Texas (or aTm- maybe both)
Ole miss
UGA

Vols left out

Notre Dame
G5
Big 12 champ
ACC champ

Tennessee is not the bottom of the barrel anymore but are not at the top either. If I had to guess, could see Nico playing the Manning role and shine just enough but once gone the next QB will reap the benefits and get that historic season.

So...you're saying we're right at bunghole level?

He didn’t complete a pass for more than 20 yards. You will not beat the elite teams with that type play.
I was highly impressed with the way Nico played on the road today. Sure he didn't hit any 20 yard throws, but he was efficient and highly effective on 3rd down.

The defense simply did not help him outside of the 1st quarter. Field position was terrible and UGA had many long drives which gave the offense less opportunities. But when they did have the ball the offense moved it well. Just didn't get it done enough once we crossed the 50.

To be fair. Texas isn't that great. They are pedestrian. Still not sure how UGA lost two games except I think they crapped themselves vs Bana but they had no business losing that game. Ole Miss has Kiffin who is always good for two bad losses
Teams that beat GA could pressure the QB and the fact is TN does not have anybody that could get pressure.

I didn't ask about Hyatt. Results from 3 years ago with nothing present do not help your cause in this argument. My question was about the past two years. Hyatt Tillman and Keyton and even Velus were all recruited by Pruitt
Yes but you said the past 2 years. The offense has been terrible the past 2 seasons and whens the last time we had 300 passing yards in a game. Yes we've had drops but what receiver doesn't. Yes I agree that our receivers have showed up (not in a good way when it matter aka drops) but they haven't been that terrible. And when they have been open they have been overthrown majority of the time going back to last season

He played well in the 1st half but threw for only 65 yards in 2nd half.

The Vols are still very much in the hunt for the playoffs. Earlier they showed some sort of stat that said if Tennessee lost to UGA they'd still have a 45% chance of making the playoffs. So you might need a bit of help, but nothing crazy has to happen for the Vols to get in.
It was actually 56%. But we know what you are getting at.

Their record says they are.

Gators are not bowl eligible yet, they are 5-5, probably going to lose next week, who knows which Florida State team they will play in the season finale, Florida is better now that they were in early October, but Tennessee is sitll lost on offense, defense finally fell apart against a top tier SEC powerhouse, the SEC is a brutal conference, to be the best, you have to beat the best and to beat the best, the best have to be on your schedule (which they were not this year with the exception of Alabama)

Can we compete against Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Ole Miss? I wanna say yes but the answer is no. CJH has this conservative mentality since Oklahoma and it doesn’t work. We were scraping to barely beat Florida and Kentucky. Defense is great against the bottom feeders but not so much against the powerhouses. Our linebackers are slow and our offensive strategy sucks. Let your horses run Josh. Seriously, was it Milton, or do we really need to reevaluate the OC? So many frustrating thoughts and questions. Looks like the Outback Bowl for Tennessee, or the Citrus.
Right now....and given last year to date, IMO, the offense is not just off, but way off. Why? Well I think you can't point in many directions. But that'd be just my opinion. Ultimately it's CJH and Halzel's responsibility. Granted tonight's D under performed, but you were still in the game for over 3 quarters. Where was the Into just up and go get it?
