Not much to complain about with that half. Would love to have a few more buckets go down in the paint but they were good shots. Especially impressive with no Aidoo and no JJJ. Awaka can comfortably play 10+ minutes per game looking at how he's doing today.

Story of the half for Tennessee is:

Lack of turnovers
Aggressive rebounding
Suffocating defense

Not all that pretty, but a great performance.

Not sure we'll hold them to 17 points in the 2nd half and shooting less than 15% from FG & 3PT. But they went 9 of 11 from the FT, talk about a dominating defensive half.

Gotta love a team that plays as hard as we do.

We held them to 12% shooting and 17 points. This team’s defense is something to watch.

I gotta say, out of timeouts early this year, I have not loved our play design…

Not only this, but the timing of our TOs has been odd. We’ve often waited until deep in the shot clock to call them, leaving us with less time to run a full set and get to the basket.

Were shooting 28 percent and have a 17 point lead that is when you are very good defensively.

Phillips was 1 of 7 from the field that half, don't see that continuing in the 2nd half.

20 more minutes of this high level defense and then start hitting more shots on offense and we can cruise to a comfortable win here.

I’m kind of surprised Edwards didn’t get minutes with ZZ in foul trouble and no JJJ or Aidoo. But, I don’t mind it. I’ve screamed for Barnes to shrink the rotation earlier in the year and playing our best 8 guys tonight is nice.

My question is why are they being made to play with it? Is the NCAA trying to cut back on scoring offense? What is the logic behind this?

Pretty sure it is because Spalding is a sponsor of this event at Barclays so they have to play with it.
