The Official #7 Tennessee vs. Alabama Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, ESPN2

There seems to be some sort of hive mindset that if one guy is off the whole team is off. Nobody really stepped up offensively and everyone seemed to be laying bricks tonight.

Vols had no inside game, no 3 point game, no FT game, and no fast break game.

Literally scored on mid range jumpers.

Credit Bama and Discredit Vols for settling.

My opinion

I don’t coach basketball but I can recognize a mediocre player when I see one. There’s having bad games and there’s being Vescovi.
He was 5-7 including 3-4 for 3's and 2-2 from the FT line against Mizz, you know the #12 ranked team, and he lead the team in scoring with 15 points. This was one game. Take you bellyaching back to politics.

I’m sorry, but Keon is not close to a lottery pick right now. He has no jump shot and seems to trip over his own feet every time he drives the lane.

He posses little offensive threat right now, which is killing us when our perimeter shooters aren’t making shots.

Damn, this loss just hurts. I was not ready to be let down this early in the year by Tennessee. This team is BY FAR the most talented in the SEC. No excuse for the dumb decisions making tonight.

How is shooting 32% being out coached???
I’d take Barnes 10 times out of 10, over Oates, but it’s gonna happen from time to time. There was one particular play, late in the game after a timeout, we were gaining momentum and Alabama caught us pressing, drove straight to the basket and scored. Barnes called a defense, Oates countered and it paid off. No knock on Barnes or this team, but we yes, we were out coached and out played tonight. Credit bama, they played well tonight, we did not.
We’ll see how we bounce back, my guess is we’ll be ready. I hope Springer is ok.
GBO!!

Then why is his name in the ‘22 mock drafts already with Chandler?

Y’all are some of the most trash fans, our style of ball isn’t to have 20ppg by one guy, the motto is literally “it’s not about me”

Be a fan, love our elite team even after a tough loss where we shot bad, had our 2nd leading scorer go down and missed our best defender most of the 1st half with foul trouble.

Right now I just don't see it. He can't create offense from the guard position. He is a sophomore and he's playing guys that won't sniff the league but he can't get a important basket down the stretch. He needs to improve a lot more. We needed him tonight. He plays good defense and has improved his ball handling. His offense is below average.

Chill dude. I love this team but JJJ hasn’t shown me anything offensively that makes me think he’s an NBA caliber player. Maybe he has a Josh Richardson Senior year and gets drafted in. Couple of years, however, he’s not getting there with the game he has right now

What you don’t seem to realize is he has the size the NBA wants and they draft off potential, not production. It’s why Pons will have a shot at being drafted & playing at the next level.

If he left now he wouldn’t get drafted, but for christ sake I said he needs to elevate his offense to a 10-12 points a night game to get a shot. I’m not saying he’s going right now either.

I think he’s a good PG that didn’t play well today, aka what the stats say and what the eye test for every other game this year has said (look at win shares here: Santiago Vescovi College Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com). You’re the one who’s saying he should be 10 minutes per game without evidence

What makes him seem like an elite PG to you? I’ve watched him since he’s been here an while he has done OK at times there’s definitely no “it” factor about him. He does the basics of getting the ball up the court most times but he doesn’t drive and create shots for himself or anyone else. He’s an average shooter at best and a liability on defense.

Never will understand coming out of the gates with zero intensity and fire. As a former player of the game, I hated waiting for gameday to get here. But once it did, it was h*** on wheels. An elite team doesn’t need a warmup speech to get going. There is zero excuse to come out that sluggish. Understandably, sometimes shots don’t fall and balls don’t bounce your way. But by god you better be licking your chops to get in someone’s grill.

For you younguns who don't have the history, you need to learn how to despise everything about bama. And while I'm at it,, Phil, you're an f'in idiot for hiring a guy from there. For that, you should have your butt fired again.
Yup, I'm totally PO'd
I don't care if it's badminton. I hate losing at anything to Bama.
