The Official #7 Tennessee vs. Alabama Game Thread, 6:00 PM ET, ESPN2

True, he does have good % shooting. However, when Springer went out with an injury JJJ should have stepped up and realized he needed to score. Maybe it’s just a lack of confidence?

Yeah man I agree, he’s gotta be aggressive. James driving hard to the rim is a better option than Santi imo. His size, strength, speed, & athleticism are better and I feel like he would get more FTs or shoots up doing that.

Some of you must have forgot how a 16 loss Alabama team beat us silly in 2018 when we won the SEC. Step off the ledge, folks. Even the best teams will lose a game or two they shouldn't. It happens.
Tennessee beat Alabama in 2018. They only played once.

He was 5-7 including 3-4 for 3's and 2-2 from the FT line against Mizz, you know the #12 ranked team, and he lead the team in scoring with 15 points. This was one game. Take you bellyaching back to politics.

Anyone saying Vescovi isn't a solid player doesn't know the game. He is super young and has some limitations athletically but is a creative passer, makes some good floater on ball fakes, is a great set shooter and rebounds well for his size. His defense has improved this year too. Very solid college player that is a bit of a tweeter but will have a long pro career overseas after leaving UT as one of our better all-time assist and 3 point shot leaders and will be in the 1000 point club.

Heck, he might even exceed all that once he gets more experience and practice. The kid is young.

Alabama always shows up and says “BOO” and Tennessee jumps out of their skin no matter what sport it is 😆

Barnes got called for a technical from a ref across the court who he wasn't even talking too. Fulky couldn't hit a free throw because of wrist problems. Springer got hurt. Pons in foul trouble and out for a good part of the game. Bama couldn't miss anything for a good while and they are never that hot. We still were within winning at 2 minutes if we could have hit free throws and scored some actual points since we were getting the ball away from them consistently.. This is a good team, just a really bad night.

Elite shooter, eFG over 600 this year. It’s like you didn’t even click the link.

Also never argued he’s elite overall or an elite PG. But stats for this year so far act like he’s performed the best on our team so far this year. He’s a good PG that would start at SG for most teams. He doesn’t have good speed but his defense is good enough for his level of shooting.
Everyone complaining that Vescovi is not an “elite” PG, how many elite PG’s are there in college basketball? 3, 4, maybe 5?
I don’t ever recall anyone labeling him elite, LMAO.
Tennessee fans have become the Philadelphia Eagle fans of college sports. I swear to god, some of you would chuck oranges at Santa Claus if he were on the court.🤦‍♂️
GBO!!

Pons in foul trouble hurt, he definitely sets the tone on our defense. Springer getting hurt, missed free throws and it is what it is, the only thing I see that hurt the most was guarding the kick out for 3. We have got to do a better job especially against teams like bubba that shoots the 3 well. Not the end of the season and definitely shows us our weaknesses.

Gonzaga, Baylor and Iowa look like they are on a tier above everyone else. After that we've played as well as anyone and I'd have us in a group with Kansas, Villanova and Wisconsin. I like that we play strong defense, we played awful on offense tonight after losing one of our most dependable scorers early and we were still only down 6 with 3 minutes to go.
Fair. That was the one good thing I took away as well. We played horribly, Bama drained 3s at 50% for the game and a ridiculous clip in the second half, we had foul trouble, and we still had a shot to get within 1 score with a 3 late in the game. We need to figure out how to play without Pons, need to guard the ball better than we did tonight, and move the ball better with better player movement to attack the basket more. Oh, and for the love of Pete, box out the dang shooter!!!! The 3s Bama hit didn’t bother me nearly as much as the layups and that’s why I mentioned the on the ball D.

If you show up in a forum only after the game is decided to start stirring the pot and bad mouthing players, well....you are a clown IMO.

Fair enough. I don’t see many people actually bad mouthing players. Just expressing frustration. Yeah, I think Keon has A LOT to work on, but so does the rest of the team.

It happens. But I’m sure everyone will calm down and revert to normal after the endorphins from the loss wear off.

With all of those things going wrong it’s no wonder we never got in sync tonight. It’s was the Perfect Storm

If we keep him for four years, he’s going to set top 5 for career stats in so many stats. I don’t know if he’ll ever really be able to improve his quickness, seems to honestly be his biggest weakness.

Tonight he had some trouble with Bama’s PG who torched us with his speed. Next season it’s going to be interesting to see who runs point with Chandler coming in & if Keon or Springer return.

Santi would feast if he got to play off ball like Turner/Bowden did when Bone was running point.

They were definitely in the minority and, of course, showed up just in the nick of time.

Very Well said. In CHRIST Alone

That was really disappointing. I wouldn't overreact to one bad game early in the season... but the offense was terrible.
