The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Can't wait for Carl and Clay to come back, hopefully Carl can pick up where he left off. Gotta feel pretty good about where this team is considering the awful start.

I don't think it's a coincidence that our lineup started struggling once Crawford went down (also could have had something to do with playing in NL Parks), Crawford just brings so many different things for this team when he is in the lineup.

I am a little worried about Clays back, especially since he said it's been bothering him since last season.

I really wish there was some way to move Lackey but the terrible contract Theo once again gave out makes it almost impossible.

He's immensely overrated as a GM. Mistakes like Lackey and Cameron would destroy a franchise without an ownership with a more or less unlimited payroll.

I have argued this w/ some of my friends, they claim Theo is a GREAT GM while I claim he is very overrated. Yes Theo has made some good moves but he has made alot of very very bad moves. Like you said if he was the GM for a team who had a lesser payroll & he were making these type deals he would have already been fired.

The only person who gets more undeserved love than Theo is Billy Beane.

Got a question for the guys that go to Fenway often.

Are there tickets usually available outside Fenway on the streets?

I've got a trip planned later this month to catch a mariners game and trying to spend the least amount of money as possible and figured it would be cheaper than buying tickets online.

Your going to Fenway later his month!?

I am also!! I am flying up to Boston on the 27th & staying through August 6th. I'll be catching a Sox vs Royals game, also plan on heading over to catch a Pawtucket game. Have plans to spend a couple days at the Cape & a full day in NYC.

Yes. Plenty to be had, for reasonable prices.

Scalping is illegal, so you're not going to see guys standing around advertising or shouting, they'll just be walking saying 'tickets' in a lowish voice.

The bridge on Boylston street is where we usually go, it's close to the park, but not close enough to be overwhelmed with BPD.

Dang man I wish I was that lucky! I'm only gonna stay from the 22-24. My family and I just got back from Florida the other day, so the trip to Boston has to come out of my own pocket or I'd be staying a lot longer haha

Who voluntarily goes to Pawtucket?

Thanks for the help man..I thought I remembered some people trying to sell them last year close to the stadium but wasn't for sure.

I have a friend that lives up there that I am staying w/. I am counting down the days, cant wait!!

Really? Didnt know that. Lol

Do you have any suggestions to do while I am up there?

Depends what you're into, really. All the historical stuff in town, Plymouth Rock and Plimoth Plantation are overrated/pricey (well, you can see the rock for free, but meh )

Cape is nice, take the trip to Nantucket or the Vineyard one day. Fun places in summer.

I like Theo as a GM, I think he has more hits than misses.

With the flexibility within the payroll, you can gamble on guys like Lackey and get away with it.

No different then any team with a large payroll.

I just wanted to echo JTrain's sentiments. You won't have a problem finding tickets. There is also a chance that you will get them at face value or very near it. I think that they are legally allowed to sell up to a few dollars over face value. I've always found it to be an easy process.

Only disclaimers....Though I've never been burned, just make sure to check the date and look at the ticket to make sure it doesn't say obstructed view under the seat number (may be noted as OBS..not sure). That's really only a problem with grandstand seats - and probably not something you'll have a problem with...but just in case.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

I'll probably just hold off and buy them at the park instead of stub hub or ticket liquidator. As long as I can find some in grandstand or outfield field box for reasonable price I'll be good to go.

Id absolutely love to sit in the monster seats but they're ridiculously high.
