The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Middlebrooks hit a shot down the line and must have thought it was heading foul because he didn't run it out. Only got a single. On to the 12th.

Damn they really need this win. Going to the 12th...

Meanwhile, Iglesias with his 5th straight 2 hit game, sounds like progress.

Just saw this about Buchholz tho, he would need to pitch 95 consecutive scoreless innings to get back to his 2010 era of 2.33. Yikes.

That's good to hear about Iglesias..how far along is ells in his rehab..anybody know?

As of about a week ago he was working on improving range of motion, nothing to crazy yet. I did read that he was hoping to get back before the all star break, but you have to figure he's a solid month away from even going on a rehab assignment.

That's good to hear. As much as we need him I definitely don't want him to rush back and risk re injury. If we can manage for another two months, we need him back in time for a playoff push.

Oh my god.

Chris Davis with 2 innings and the win. AGonz 0-8 on the day, including being struck out on a nasty changeup (really) from Davis.

Darnell McDonald gave up 3 run HR to Adam Jones to lose lead, then grounded into double play to end game.

Just wow, guys. Just wow.

Middlebrooks w/ another HR tonight!!!

Youkilis who!?!

Umm that would be the Misslebrooks with 6 xtra base hits in 21 ab's compared to Youk with his 4 in 64 ab's

(and yes I'm leaving that typo in there, that's what my phone wants to call him and I'm not going to argue)

I like it.. Misslebrooks

I know at some point Middlebrooks will come back to earth b/c there is no way he can keep this pace up but when Youk is healthy what do you do? It's a tough quesiton. Send Middlebrooks back down to get more AB's in Triple-A & try to get Youk going again so that may be you can trade him at the deadline? B/c we all know Youk is not coming back next season. Or do you just go all in w/ Middlebrooks & make him your everyday 3B?

& what about Lavarnway? He came up last season & showed he has some pop in the bat. At what point do you consider calling him up. Salty will swing at anything & everything & Shoppach hasn't looked any better at the plate. Do you wait until September to bring him up?

If the Sox are completely out of the playoff race or are not in a reasonable enough position to make a run then I say at the point go w/ the youth movement & bring up Lavarnway & Iglesias to go w/ Middlebrooks & see what you got w/ those 3.

JMO.
