Edit: WEEI saying Middlebrooks has a tweaked thumb & that's why he didn't get called up.

Saw that they were exploring trade options for Cook. Doubt that happens, but since they didn't call him up by the deadline, Cook can opt opt and the Sox have 48 hours to promote, release, or trade him I believe.
