Guess which play was shown on ESPN? The UGA guy ripping Spikes's helmet off.

Guess which play was NOT shown on ESPN?

If that was a Tennessee player who did that, the media would be ALL OVER IT.

I'm with those who aren't surprised by this. Like I have said before, I have NEVER had a good experience with anyone associated with Florida (not saying good UF fans don't exist . . . just saying that I haven't met any of them). As for the UF players, we have seen this for years. I remember when they played Oklahoma in the NC game and that OU recieved took a horrible hit on the UF sideline and was laying there for a second, possibly hurt . . . there was immediately a pack of UF players (who were on the sidelines, not even playing) swarming around him, pointing, jumping up and down and trash-talking. These idiots have always been like this. Why should anyone think things have changed. The only difference now is that they have a santimonious, self-righteous coach that has Mike Slive in his back pocket. Everybody has their bad apples, but this is pathetic. If we ever start acting like that, I will be ashamed.

By the way, you won't see anything about this (or anything else negative about the Gators) on any of the sports network coverage. The "golden boy" image of Tebow and Saint Urban Meyer is too good a storyline to tarnish in any way.

Just when I thought you people couldn't be any bigger crybabies... :cray:

It was Dawg not a Vol. We aren't crying over it, just pointing out how bush league it was. I can't imagine how much you would cry if that had been Saint Tebow in that situation.
I know this has always happened, but when it's caught on tape it's a good time to make an example out of someone.

For those of you saying, "This kind of stuff happens all the time," there's a difference between accidentally poking someone in the eye when trying to recover a fumble and tackling a RB and intentionally sticking your fingers inside his helmet to gouge out his eyes.

I have NEVER seen someone intentionally stick their hand inside someone's helmet and try to blind them, have you? If so, link please.

This was beyond pathetic, and it deserves a one game suspension.

If he did it intentionally, that's pretty bad. Remember, though you are seeing it in super slo-mo, and it looked to me that it took about a 1/4 of a second and Spikes couldn't see where he was reaching, just trying to grab hold of something. Tough to tell if he meant the guy any harm.

Typical response I would expect from you. He couldn't tell he was sticking his fingers in the guys helmet and eyes? With Tebow on the team he should be a professional with sticking his fingers in places.

You have got to be kidding - the guy knew exactly what he was doing.

Absurd.

Thats it, Gator fans are blind. First, Tebow "rocked" Berry, and now, Spikes wasn't gouging eyes. :ermm:

Gator or not, this should not be part of the game. Action needs to be taken. Step up Meyer.

You are such a damn tool. He wasn't "grabbing" anything for support. He was not leveraging his body that way. If anything he was trying to conceal his actions with his torso.

If he was grabing something for support, he would be leveraging his body toward the ground or away from wayshon to gain stability.

He was constantly attempting to position himself to both hurt the RB and conceal his actions.

Watch it again, but try your best to envision it in real time. And try to be a little objective.

Then tell me if you really think Spikes had time to figure out where the official was, how to block his view, to reach in and hurt the guy, and on and on.

I said above that if he did it on purpose then that is pretty bad by him. I'm just saying you have to realize how truly quickly that is happening and realize it might be innocent -- don't know.

You are out of control. Get an intervention, a bought hummer, a girlfriend, anything; but freaking stop with the garbage rationalizations.

This Nancy would likely lodge several teeth in your throat and not bill you for the dental work. Your stupidity notwithstanding, this stuff gets hammered when it reaches the light of day. Mist are bright enough to avoid public review of their dirty laundry. Spikes doesn't fit the bill.

I don't care how often it is done. When documented it needs to be dealt with. That is not football. That is thuggery.

If it was a Vol, he would deserve to be suspended.

Any of you guys ever played football? This happens much more than you think. In my twenty years of playing, I have been gouged, pinched, bitten, punched, kicked, spit on, and a few others I won't mention... So forgive me If I don't see this as a big deal.
