It's baseball, you can't win them all.

By the way, all you Braves be sure to check out the newest addition to the VolNation family.... http://www.braveschop.com

:D

It's still a division of postjunkies right now but if it gets enough interest I may split it off on it's own.

Braves cut the wildcard to 6.5

1 Game For Everyone Before The Break.

Braves 13.0 Out of First. (Mets)

Braves .5 a Game Out of Third. (Florida)
Braves 1.5 Ahead of Washington.

Wild Card
Los Angeles 45-42 .517 (- -)
Colorado 44-42 .512 (-0.5)
Cincinnati 45-43 .511 (-0.5)
San Francisco 45-43 .511 (-0.5)

Washington 38-51 .427 (-8.0)
Chicago 33-54 .379 (-12.0)
Pittsburgh 30-59 .337 (-16.0)

Best Scenario for Braves is a win, coupled with a Mets win over Florida and a Pittsburgh win over Philadephia. That would move the Braves into second in the east, and up two spots in the Wild Card Race Heading into the break.

Well 2 out of 3 in that scenario wasn't bad.

Braves Win 8-3!

Braves tied with San Diego for the hottest team in the NL the last ten, going 7-3. Only the Angels were better in all of the Majors at 8-2.

East Standings At The Break
New York 53-36 .596 (- -)
Philadelphia 40-47 .460 (-12.0)

Chicago 34-54 .386 (-12.0)
Pittsburgh 30-60 .333 (-17.0)

Still In Progress

For what it's worth, if the Braves continue at the 7-3 over ten games pace(51-22 Second Half), and the Mets continue at 6-4, the Braves would finish roughly 5 games behind the Mets.

Without doing all the math, if the Braves did finish 91-71, I THINK it would be enough for the Wild card, IF all the other Wild Card teams played at thier current rate over the last ten or worse.

Of course, more than likely, no one will, but I just thought it was interesting to look at.

Games Remaining Vs. Division
Mets- 9 (-13)
Phillies- 13 (-1)
Marlins- 9 (+.5)
Nationals- 10 (+2.5)

Games Remaining Vs. Wild Card
Dodgers- 0 (-6.5)
Rockies- 4 (-5)
Reds- 3 (-5)
Giants- 3 (-5)
Brewers- 3 (-3.5)
Diamondbacks- 0 (-3.5)
Astros- 3 (-3.5)

Every time we play the Mets, we need to take advantage of the opportunity to gain some ground. The Mets are rolling but i dont see them doing this all year long.

Those are a lot of teams we have to pass. That wildcard spot is really going to be up for grabs it looks like.

:banghead: Reds will have the wild card!

Well the Braves are playing the Padres & It is the 9th Inning & guess what just happened..Yeah thats right Sosa has just gave up 2 runs after A. Jones just knocked 2 people in to take the lead. Well its tied again & there are 2 people on base if I was A. Jones when the Padres earned those 2 runs I would have went up to the pitchers mound & knocked Sosa out!

Well Laroche just hit a homerun to make it 12-11. My final prediction of the score is 13-12 Padres. Hopefully im wrong but Im sure that i wont be

Skip Caray said in the last half inning that a pitcher can blow two saves in the same game, and his son tried to cover for him. Well, it's tied again, and Skip brought up the two blown saves again. You'd think Chip would have set him straight during the break. It was a blown save in the bottom of the 9th, but Sosa was going for the win in the bottom of the 10th. You can't get a win and a save. Also, you know you're a lousy closer when you're getting dropped in fantasy baseball. Perhaps the Braves could get Gonzalez off of the Pirates. They need somebody.

Skip: "Hopefully, they'll give him the RBI." You can never assume a double play when there is an error. Skip is funny tonight. :birgits_giggle: It looks like the Braves have got this one.

Braves are back in second place in the EAST!

Tied with Philly going into Saturday, 13 games back.
1 Game ahead of Florida and 3.5 ahead of Washington.

The Braves are 5.5 out in the wild card standings, again tied with Philly.
The Brewers and Astros are 2 games ahead of Atlanta.
The Rockies and Diamondbacks are 3 games ahead of Atlanta.
The Dodgers and Giants are 5 games ahead of Atlanta.
The Reds lead the wildcard standings going into Saturday.
