The Official Chicago Cubby Bears Thread

The only guy on the roster who, unquestionably, will be in Chicago long term is Anthony Rizzo.

Now look where the Cubs sit:
–Between now and January, they can allow teams to line up, be it for Starlin Castro or Javier Baez, and the cost of a 24 year old all-star or premium power at the position to the Mets, Yankees, Marlins, Dodgers, Mariners and others likely will be a combination of front end starting pitching and a young catcher. Memo to bidders: you want quality, you trade quality, as Billy Beane showed you.
–By 2017, when Anthony is their graybeard and Bryant, Russell, Almora, Jorge Soler, Arismendy Alcantara and friends are the lights of the Clark and Addison, those young players will be making little more than $10M. With the ballpark nearly finished and a new television deal on the horizon, they can buy what they need on the pitching free agent market.

Peter Gammons agrees.

This season remains a somber one.
I think I'll watch one or two cubs games a month.

The rest of the time of not watching the cubs I can occupy with seeing movies, or watching netflix.
If I finish the first three seasons of angel before the cubs get to 64 wins if they do I won't be shocked.

In the case of garbage wins the Cubs are making it miserable for the cards tonight.

To bad they couldn't play like this in the first 3 months of the season.

I don't see why they'd make him the highest paid pitcher in MLB.

The prospects are growing up (Baez, Soler, Russell), we added one of the best pitch framers in Montero, and we sign Jon Lester. Apprarrently Theo decided to speed up Phase II. For all you naysayers out there, the Cubbies are coming and soon.
