so with the trade deadline comging up what have yall been hearing about the cubs. I think that hendry is keeping a low profile this year, which is what he does almost every year. But I have been hearing either dunn, austin kearns, danny baez, aubrey huff, matt lawton, alfo soriano, and mike mcdogual as the only people hendry is lookig at. any chance we get any of them?

i wouldnt mind kearns or dunn. dunn could be a superstar if he could fix his attitude and if coached right, a kearns deal could end up like the deal for aramiz. i doubt we'll get mcdougal or baez because hendry wants to wait on williamson who is doing awesome in his rehad stints. i doubt huff as well because the asking price is high. lawton would be good, but i dont know if the pirates will want to trade with the cubs for a while after we got simon, aram, and lofton a few years ago for very little. the soriano deal will go about as far as the pierre deal, and either way, id like kearns or dunn in left and walker at 2nd more than holly/murton in left and soriano at 2nd. id say our best chances are with lawton, kearns, and dunn. hendry will most likely trade for someone noone has mentioned or trade for nothing.

Hendry is talking to the Ranger's GM and potentially offering Walker, Mitre and Wellemeyer for Soriano (whom he says they need to rid themselves of because he is due $7 million for next year).

Then he stated that Hendry continues to discuss a trade with Cincinnati for BOTH Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns. Yes, that's right~ according to Levine, if Hendry has it his way, he would acquire both of them at the same time. He went on to say that JH would still be reluctant to trade Hill, though I cannot imagine how he could possibly pull off a trade for both without including him in the deal (let alone Pie and others).

can kearns play cf? or are they wanting burny to play cf and kearns in right? part of me would like that, but part of me wouldnt want to give up all that we will give up and wants murton to get a real chance.

i doubt that will happen. hendry has all but proclaimed pie as untouchable. i wouldnt want that deal anyways. i think williamson will be better than mcdougal. what will walker do if soriano comes in? nolasco and mitre are tradeable, but hendry doesnt wanna trade cp with him having as little value as what he has now.

too many reasons for this trade to fall through:

i would much rather give up some prospects and a couple others for dunn and/or kearns but i doubt anything will go down.

I have a friend who lives in Arlington, Texas, and he just heard on a Houston sports radio station that a three way deal is brewing between the Twins, Rangers, and Cubs.

According to that station, the deal shakes out like this:

Rangers trade Soriano and cash considerations to the Cubs for Rich Hill and a PTBNL. The Cubs then send Soriano to the Twins for Jacque Jones and Kyle Lohse.

I might have missed a little bit, but my friend pretty much said that's the deal at this point.

yeah, ive heard something about rich hill being sent for soriano but i didnt know about minnesota. is lohse a starting pitcher? unless hes a decent sp i dont know if i like that trade either, who would start for the cubs if hill leaves?

that is what they are proably setting up right now. looking for a starter incase they trade hill. but i rather have romero and jaque jones then lohse. i think gledon rusch may start if this is what happens. but it looks like this is the trade that is going to happen. what i dont understand is that if the cubs are serious about making a run why not go after manny. we have the farm system and the players needed to get manny. i think our lineup would be sick if we got manny

Well, you got a new left fielder, but it ain't Manny. Jody Gerut just got traded to the Pirates for Matt Lawton.

He plays center field. I think I also just heard corey patterson is being called back up which is stupid but hey. At least lawton has a crazy obp of .382 . that is what we need, someone to get on base for d-lee and a-ram.

Matt Lawton did very good yesterday to help us win aginst the philles. It is nice to see that hendry proably made another great move for us. Even though he is just a hired bat for this year, I still like him. lets see if jerome williams canget us another win today.

Well someon unleashed the beast today in Lee. 2 hommers and 4 rbis. 10-4 cubs in the 6th.
