better than some of the ones alot of other teams are stuck with ... not many great QBs coming out of college the past couple seasons either - alot of colllege teams dumping the pro style O is probably the main reason

A lot more QBs coming out early the last few years doesn't help either.

George R. R. Martin, the author of the Game of Thrones book series, posted an angry note to his LiveJournal blog after the NFC Wild Card Game on Sunday night.

Martin was disgusted by a reversed pass-interference call that went against the Lions.

“If I was a Detroit Lions fan, I'd be screaming for referee blood about that.

Picking up that flag on a FLAGRANT pass interference by Dallas in the fourth quarter was the worse call... or non-call... the NFL has seen since... well... since the non-call on the botched field goal attempt in the Giants/ 49ers playoff game ages ago.

Shocking. Really shocking.

The Lions could still have won the game. They did lots to blow it afterward, from penalties of their own (none as flagrant, none picked up) to blown coverages to a shanked punt and a fumble. But still... Detroit could well have locked up the victory on that drive, the play was textbook pass interference, the penalty needed to stand. The defender mugged the tight end.

One for the books."

The blog post came with a big thumbs-down image, along with Martin clarifying that his mood was: “Angry.”

NFL admitted another missed call on the 4th down conversion to Witten. Missed a hold on Suh

President Obama- “[I can’t] remember a circumstance in which a good call by one of the refs is argued about by an opposing player of the other team with his helmet off on the field, which in and of itself is supposed to be a penalty. The call is announced and then reversed without explanation. I haven’t seen that before — so I will leave it up to the experts to make the judgment as to why that happened — but I can tell you if I was a Lions fan I’d be pretty aggravated.”

Well, I for one am glad he took the time to chime in on this blatant injustice. Has the Pope issued a statement yet?

There's a picture of Witten being held on the 4th down play. Also one of the corners almost had his jersey ripped off from behind on the Bush td.

There's probably multiple holds on every play that the refs miss. I think the real rub for Lions fans is the fact that the refs actually saw the hold/interference on the controversial play, went through the motions of throwing the flag and announcing the penalty to the crowd, and THEN somehow changed their mind.

Austin did an amazing job in making the Lion's an elite defense in 1 year. Not sure if he's ready for a head coaching job yet, he's only been a D coordinator for 1 year. I really hope he stays in Detroit though.
