The Official Detroit Pistons Thread

The "Z's official Pistons plan for the offseason."

1. Offer Stan Van Gundy the moon.

2. Re-sign Greg Monroe. He's a stud and can be a building block here. If he wants the max, give it to him.

3. Trade Josh Smith for whoever is willing to take him. It doesn't matter what you get back. Trade him. He's a cancer.

4. Draft a SF. I don't love Brandon Jennings by any means, but I'm willing to give him another year. I think Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is going to be really solid, so I would not take any other two guards. I would be interested to see what Rodney Hood could do in a Pistons uniform. Intriguing option would be Aaron Gordon. He isn't a great shooter by any means (although this is SSS, he did shoot 35.6% from deep on 45 attempts) but he does everything else on the court and he has solid basketball IQ.

5. Find shooters off the bench in the offseason. Kyle Singler is a really nice role player and can stretch the defense. Him and Jonas Jerebko really help but they need another shooter whether at the one or two to help stretch the defense.

With Stuckey gone and Billups probably retiring, it will be interesting to see what they do with the backcourt. Singler, Jerebko, and Harrellson are nice backup options. I really believe Siva can be a nice backup PG, but there is very little offensive punch off the bench with a Siva/Singler/Jerebko/Harrellson combination.

Offered the moon and got him.

Smith does need to go. So does Jennings. I wouldn't offer Monroe max money.

Other than losing the first round pick (which wasn't SVG's fault at all) I like the offseason plan. SVG wants to keep Monroe, Dinwiddie is a great value at #38, and Josh Smith trade talks have already surfaced.

I don't care what you get back for him. You trade Josh Smith, you win the offseason and give yourself a chance to build a contender.

I'm not super excited about 20 million for Jodi Meeks but he provides a huge need.

Rumors of an Isaiah Thomas/Josh Smith sign and trade which would make my year. You trade Brandon Jennings and now we are cooking.

Pull that off and erect a statue for SVG.
