The Official Larry Fedora Thread I

First off, Duke is a bowl team. Also, the most wins Butch Davis had at UNC was 8 wins and he had much more talent than Fedora.

Fedora can coach. He is one of the best offensive minds in the country. Pair him with a good DC, and he will win championships.

But...but...but...he's not a defensive minded coach so he should automatically be eliminated as a candidate. It's impossible to hire a good defensive coordinator. Charlie Strong is the only option.

Dont see the love for strong over fedora. Fedora has a better win pct, better bowl record, more experiance at bigger programs. Strong went 7-6 past two years then has a blowout year(like fedora did last year) and everyone still prefers strong. Dont give me the defense bull shat because like i posted earlier, UL give up 24 ppg this year, unc give up 25 ppg. And i can promise unc scored a helluva lot more points

Anytime somebody bring that up, immediately bring up Steve Spurrier or Urban Meyer so they will shut up.

I think Strong (right now) is a little better recruiter than Fedora, but that can easily change.

Fedora's the better coach.

Strong is 2-0 against Fedora

(I know this might not mean that much, but just throwing it out there)

Wasn't necessarily a Fedora fan, but you've got good info here. Good post.

True. But in fedoras defense, it was his first year at unc. Strong has been recruiting and coaching at ul for three years and ul only won by 5.

I will admit strong beat fedora in his first year at ul though. But honestly i still get pissed over that game. I believe it was michael bush who clearly fumbled that ball and it didnt get over turned.

Sure fedora coached in the cusa but to me, the big east isnt that much better. Fedora has fire and intensity and will make sure we put up points. Hire the right defensive staff and weve got things rollin.

Zj i agree strong is the better recruiter as of now, but fedora is still a great one and will only get better

I think it's a lot easier to get talent to UNC than to Louisville, and that UNC was more talented, even in Fedora's first year.

Fedora has shown a nice upward trajectory, but losses to Marshall and UAB in his championship season are at least as bad as Strong losing to Cuse and UConn.

Dont help when the qb throws a combined 9 ints in those two games vs marshall and uab. But that loss still goes on fedoras resume. So your right. But he did still get a great oppertunity to be coaching atunc.

I think they're both good recruiters and will both prove to be excellent game coaches. I have a slight preference for Strong because he's engineered a turnaround, whereas Fedora walked into a pretty good situation after Bower left. But either one would win.

Fedora was at a UNC Bball game last night, so unless he had a LATE night flight or early AM today, the rumors about him interviewing at UT today were unfounded.

We're keeping the Fedora !!!

BTW, whaddya' think about NC State hiring orthern Illinois' Dave Doeren as their new HC?

Seems like they were shooting kinda low. OK, he's won the MAC, but BFD.

About same level as ACC

The more I hear & read on Fedora the more I like the guy! I didn't know he was an OC at MTSU, Florida & Okie St!

I looked him up on youtube and there are several great videos that shows his passion for the game and how much his players seem to like playing for the guy!!

I think he could win here and given the chance could do very well.

Fedora was 8-4 in his FIRST season, coming off of a year where UNC had lost their HC (Butch Davis) a week before practice began.

AND, three of Fedora's losses were by less than 10 points COMBINED !!!

You WANT Fedora, but you're not getting him . . . at least this year, anyway.

WE LOVE FEDORA IN CHAPEL HILL !!!

No sir, don't want him

Great coach, but hes stayin at unc

Larry Fedora is going to be an elite coach soon.

He wins. Period.

He may end up being an elite coach; however, 8-4 with a loss to Duke usually doesn't make me say "he wins". He had one better than middling year at Southern Miss (and he, or the AD, weakened the schedule to get that). He had taken over for Jeff Bower, whose record looks almost exactly like his. I understand there's more to assessing a coach for your program than just record, but his record is mediocre.

Hilarious that UNC fans think that he would not leave. If UT puts an offer on the table, Fedora would sign on the dotted line very quickly. I think Strong and Fedora would both do a great job at UT.

Vols get Fedora
North Carolina gets Dooley
Dooley immediately starts the Tar heels for Life program in year 0
