Inside Carolina posters saying on their Premium board that Fedora stressed that he was not interested in the Tennessee job while speaking at a UNC booster event in NYC last night.
IF...IF we hire Fedora, I bet his staff is exactly as follows...
OC: Blake Anderson
RB: Jay Graham
WR: Tee Martin
TE: Walt Bell
OL: Chris Kapilovic
DC: Dan Disch
Co-DC & DBs: Vic Koenning
DL: Deke Adams
ST & LB: David Duggan
Remember who said it.
I hope the interview goes horrible. Do not want him
Well I used to be really against him but after thinking on it and being fair I realized he is basically the offensive version of Strong and Strong is the guy I've really wanted.
Don't get me wrong I still really really want Strong because I believe we need a D minded coach but if we ended up with Fedora I wouldn't be too upset. I'd just want him to get a really solid, successful, proven DC, not bring one of the ones he's had with him in the past.
I have not read all 41 pages of this thread so these two points may have been posted previously. According to the contract link previously provided, the date of Fedora's contract with NC is 1/15/12 and his buyout is currently $2.3 million but drops to $1 million in mid January 2013, so a deal could be cut effective mid January and save $1.3 million. Also, he knows the area having previously been an offensive coordinator at MTSU.
So we've gone from allegedly coveting all of Bama's former or current assistant coaches to coveting all of Florida's former assistant coaches.
If this ends up happening i will be extremely dissapointed, not that i dont think Fedora is a good coach, we need defense, and Strong is exactly that. SEC ties, was the only coach Urban Meyer kept from Zooks staff, and direct quote from tony dungy "When they see what he can do, you're probably going to have a lot of people disappointed they didn't hire him sooner.""
We need wins. Doesn't do us any good if we hire a defensive coach who can't choose an OC (see Clawson, David).
I think any of the three remaining coaches could win at Tennessee but staff selection would be paramount.
FWIW if Fedora had been at UNC for more than a year he'd be a much higher profile candidate.
