We need wins. Doesn't do us any good if we hire a defensive coach who can't choose an OC (see Clawson, David).
I think any of the three remaining coaches could win at Tennessee but staff selection would be paramount.
FWIW if Fedora had been at UNC for more than a year he'd be a much higher profile candidate.
If this ends up happening i will be extremely dissapointed, not that i dont think Fedora is a good coach, we need defense, and Strong is exactly that. SEC ties, was the only coach Urban Meyer kept from Zooks staff, winning 2 National Championships, and direct quote from tony dungy "When they see what he can do, you're probably going to have a lot of people disappointed they didn't hire him sooner.""
hes 10-2 right now and did you not watch the SEC championship game, running the ball and defense wins championships. how was the team this year with one of the best offenses in the history of Tennessee Football
Also among the assertions made by Willingham are that numerous football and basketball players came to the university with academic histories that showed them incapable of doing college-level work, especially at one of the nations top public universities.
The problem isn't that Kiffin left. It's how he left, the early enrollee situation, and how late it was.
Inside Carolina Premium board staff member states that Fedora is in NYC with the AD and RC of UNC. Fedora did speak at the NFFAA dinner last night. Fedora's policy is not to comment on coaching search rumors. The staff member then states that a source connected with UNC denies that Fedora interviewed with Tennessee this morning, despite any reports by Hubbs or Basilio.
I am not trying to add to Rumor Central, but if the listed link is correct, Larry Fedora is being interviewed by Dave Hart today. I hope I've gotten the link right, if not, apologies.
SEC Coaching Carousel Update 12/4/12
Fedora is a very aggressive coach on the offensive side of the ball, and he is an avid recruiter. I wonder who who would best serve as his DC, if he is actually hired?
Larry Fedora, North Carolina An industry source tells MrSEC.com that Fedora feels he was misled by the UNC administration regarding the schools NCAA issues and academic requirements. He or his agent began to float his name in connection to a couple of searches and its believed he would seriously consider ditching Chapel Hill after one season. Tennessee is expected to interview one candidate today and both industry and sources in Knoxville tell us Fedora will be that interview.
