The "official" Lost thread

From the previews, it looks like next ep is Jacob/MIB centered so we probably won't find out till the finale. Kind of disappointed that Ben has been missing the last few eps.

Eh, not broken up about Sun's death at all. She's borrrrrrrring.

But, they've gotta kill off some people eventually.

A visit from their Mother. (Jacob/MIB)

Word also is that none of the series regulars will be in this episode............

On getting the answers:

Lindelof:

"We answered all the questions that we wanted to answer. And our rule has always been: We answer the questions that were important to answer for the characters on the show. If Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Locke, and Kate didn't care about it ... It's not that we didn't care about it, or that we don't acknowledge that the fans are curious about it, but we didn't answer it. That being said: There might, possibly, be some questions that we, as storytellers, will answer in the body of the show that might not be appearing in the finale. And that's all we're willing to say" ...

they answered several things, but that episode didn't answer near as much as i thought it would. and in typical lost fashion they're still bringing up more questions with only 2 episodes left. i feel like alot of this should have been covered ages ago but instead they've waited until the last minute and everything feels insanely rushed. i thought tonight's episode was good, but in a way i also feel like they could be ending this alot better. we're pretty much at the very end and they're still setting up stuff and trying to explain things that i feel should have been covered some time ago.

What did they answer?

Where the 2 skeletons from Season 1 came from? WHOOOOOOO!! Yes I'm sure that was at the top of everyone's "Have to Know" list.

That the secret of the island is freakin light? That MIB somehow never got a name after 30 freakin years?

Use your head and put it all together. They aren't going to spell it out for you. The show isn't about answers.

Are you guys being serious? You really thought that was a good episode?

Yes, it was a good episode. It's a TV show and the point of the show is to be entertained and I was. Plus you got to see the back story of Jacob and MIB.

The show is about the characters and the plot more so than it is about solving mysteries.

What did they answer?

-why there's a rift between jacob and the MIB
-why the MIB wants to leave the island
-who the two skeletons were in the cave
-how the MIB became smokey
etc, etc...

like i said, there were several things answered.....but there are also several questions still being left up in the air.

I'd say that barely qualifies as "explaining"...he was thrown in the light and "became" the Smoke Monster.
