The "official" Lost thread

1. I was a little disappointed that the sickness was not explained. Maybe I missed it, but this seems to still be a huge mystery.

2. Overall, I thought it was a satisfactory ending. We learned enough...almost.

3. The showdown between FLocke and Jack was pretty corny and cliche. I almost expected FLocke to say "Mr. Anderson!" as they stared each other down in the rain. Jack's leap right before the commercial made me laugh.

4. The fact that Sayid ended up with Shannon made me wonder...when he said to Flocke, "The only thing I ever wanted died in my arms" did he mean Nadia or Shannon?

5. The target commercials were great. Anyone notice the keyboard was $23? Another appearance of the numbers!

6. I finally became fully convinced that the MIB was evil when he threatened to kill Rose and Bernard.

7. I still think Jacob was not a good guy. Like Ben said, Hugo had the opportunity to run things better than Jacob. I'm sure he did.

8. Ben got what he wanted. Sure, he was the #2 man, but I'm sure he was much happier than when Jacob was in charge.

9. Kate looked mighty fine in that tight dress. It was worth watching just for that.

10. I hope O'Quinn, Emerson, and Fox do another series together like they talked about on Kimmel. They work so well together.

Needless to say I was disappointed as I was 90% sure I would be. I give the producers credit because even though I was sure the story was not going to go where I wanted it to they still managed to keep me interested. The ending shaped up pretty quickly for me and seemed like a cop out to me. They had what could be called marginal characters at best reuniting at the church but totally ignored others. I just felt that the set up was long and drawn out with the ending rushed and poorly executed. The scenes in the cave of light looked corny to me, was sure Captain Kirk would make a guest appearance any second (joke to make a point). They would have done better to have the three (Desmond, Locke and Jack) enter the cave and left the events that transpired there to the imagination, with Locke and Jack picking back up on their battle outside the cave (another very corny scene IMO). The whole thing felt rushed and thrown together, I realize the ending was thoroughly planned but some of the events leading up to it were poorly executed IMO.

I have always been one of those who looks at shows and movies critically, I always call out BS (like Jack taking an 10" knife thrust into the Kidneys yet living for another 2 to 3 hours at the very least).

Am I the only one who thought the ending sucked out loud? I don't care how you slice it, that was a purgatory story. Sideways, backwards, whatever, purgatory was involved and that renders everything else meaningless. The light source, the island, whatever - all basically a figment of someone's imagination. I'm guessing the writers got so far afield during the first 5 seasons they could never dig themselves out. Just what I was most afraid of. So they copped out. I want the last six years of my life back.

Classic example of someone claiming something sucks because they just don't understand.

I've been reading around, and it's incredible how many people are confused about the finale. Again, I loved it...

this show ended just like i figured it would. i am not sure if the producers are geniuses for making such a good show for so long or for just stringing us all along for a ride that they themselves never really knew where was going to end up. i am sure they knew, but the last 10 min. of that show makes me wonder. seemed like a huge cop out to me.

overall, it was a great series and i am sorry to see it go. got the kimmel show dvr'd and going to check it out tonight.

still not sure if I liked it or not (leaning toward yes). I understand what they were doing but may need to watch it again.

How is it a cop out? How would you have felt if the entire island timeline was fake and 5 seasons of story were all for nothing?

i just thought a show as epic as lost deserved a little more than that. just my opinion. the whole last episode was great until the last little bit. it was good, but not epic like i had hoped. i still liked it well enough. i def want to give it another watch.

i guess i was hoping for aliens...:)

I believe Ben choose not to enter because since he remembered the Island, he probably was going to try to get with Danielle (hinted at a few episodes ago) and try to be Alex's step-father.

Then again I don't know what he woudl do once they realized everything, since Danielle hated Ben on the Island and his relationship with Alex was shaky at best.

Ben didn't enter because of his past transgressions. He still couldn't "let go."

I think when seated outside the church Ben remembered all the bad things he did (killing Locke, etc) and he just had to repent further before moving on....thats how I interpreted it anyway.

That's a good point. But what he probably wanted to do was to apologize to them and seek their forgiveness. He got Locke's forgiveness, now he needs to work out the rest of his demons before he moves on. He would also be helping Alex and Danielle move on by apologizing to them. I'm sure he wants to help them out as much as he wants to get their forgiveness.

after reflecting on it, i enjoyed the finale and was satisfied with how everything ended. i agree with chavis and others in that people shouldn't have been expecting for the writers to explain all of the mythology. if they were going to go the route of spoonfeeding answers to the audience they would have started weeks, or even months ago when the season first started. like others have said, it adds to the mystery as a whole that not everything was explained.

okay - I only watched about 6 total episodes throughout the series history.

where can I find a synopsis of the ending?

You know, I don't think the ending was perfect, but I can't believe how some aren't getting it. I'm not talking about on here, I'm also looking on IMDB.com's Lost page and some people really aren't getting it...at all.

People are completely ignoring the conversation between Jack and Christian.

Yeah, last night I read a couple reviews and half of them were saying the island was purgatory and they were dead the whole time. Those guys had to rush out that article before the episode even went off air.
