The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Kasey Kahne is out of the #5 at the end of the year, William Byron replacing him. HMS is going to have a nice young group of drivers for the next few years.

So I put together a team chart for next year with each drivers age, SHR is in the worst shape in terms of age and they don't have any young drivers in the pipeline either (Custer doesn't count because I don't see him running well in cup).

HMS
#5 - William Byron (21)
#24 - Chase Elliot (23)
#48 - Jimmie Johnson (43)
#88 - Alex Bowman (25)

JGR
#11 - Denny Hamlin (38)
#18 - Kyle Busch (33)
#19 - Daniel Suarez (26)
#20 - Erik Jones (22)

SHR
#4 - Kevin Harvick (43)
#10 - Danica Patrick (36) ?
#14 - Clint Bowyer (39)
#41 - Kurt Busch (40) ?

RCR
3 - Austin Dillon (28)
31 - Ryan Newman (41)
13/33 - Ty Dillon (26) ?

RFR
6 - Trevor Bayne (27)
17 - Ricky Stenhouse Jr (31)

CGR
1 - Jamie McMurray (42)
42 - Kyle Larson (26)

Penske
2 - Brad Keselowski (34)
12 - Ryan Blaney (25)
22 - Joey Logano (28)

Wood Brothers

Furniture Row

Camaro becoming Chevy's official car in the cup series next season.

And it is begrudgingly bad ass.

So the biggest rumor for silly season is that GMS Racing (currently fielding an Xfinity & CWTS programs) will make the jump to Cup next year. The only question is if they go with Chevy or Toyota. Apparently if the go Chevy they will form an alliance with HMS and Kahne will get the ride and if they go Toyota it might be landing place for Kenseth.

Rick Hendrick said that he was looking for an alliance ride for Kahne. This makes sense.
