Been watching NASCAR since I was a small child and I don’t remember ever seeing a wreck that bad on the driver’s side. Praying for Newman and his loved ones, because that was awful.
I guess you aren't old enough to remember Reb Wickersham t-boning an essentially stopped car of Buren Skeen in the driver's door at Darlington in 1965, and killing Skeen.
 
It’s an annual gripe for me, but never understood why this race is so important. Any time you have a term like “the big one” should be cause for change.

Serious question do you also feel the same way about the Indy 500?
I ask because they are both as American as Hot dogs and apple pie. Nascar drivers are and have been for many years probably the most down to Earth next door neighbor type people and there's a large segment of the country who appreciates that.
