The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

That was a lot of fun. Kudos to everyone that made that happen. I appreciate that Nascar was ambitious. It would have been easy to do a street race in Branson, MO or Columbia, SC, but they chose the third biggest city in the US. They also did it in a real part of the city, not some industrial park.

Not certain if they do it next year, but I would be fine for them dropping another road course and doing this again.

Would’ve been better if they didn’t have weather being the race strategy.

Absolutely, but it does feel like the best car won. So it doesn’t feel like an absolute fluke.

I would’ve enjoyed Reddick, Bell, Larson, SVG, and even McDowell battling as opposed to the not top 10 cars being gifted position on something that could’ve been decided before the start.

But yes, he was definitely strong throughout.

The PR stunt was fun. And now NASCAR has done a street race. NASCAR and Chicago got its fame. Now, go back to the Chicagoland oval in Joliet, if you want to continue racing in Chicago

These cars are not made for maneuvering narrow city streets. They’re made for speed and ovals.

Are they though? They are slow as crap with no horsepower.

Different topic. Everyone is saying svg was the fastest car yesterday. I thought c bell and reddick pulled away from him multiple times before they both crashed.

NASCAR made them slow by design. For “safety” but we know it’s because they want competition to be closer.

The competition may be closer but it definitely is not any better. The tires are the biggest problem in my opinion as the drivers have no cushion.

Outside of intermediates the Gen 7 is lackluster. That would be okay if it was also safer than the old car, but it’s not. I think they can make some real fixes to it and improve it, I just don’t know if they will.

I remember 2014 being a lot of fun, but they also struggled with dirty air. I don’t know when nascar had it perfect in terms of the on track product and parity. I think as long as you have a splitter dirty air is going to be a problem.
