The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Outside of intermediates the Gen 7 is lackluster. That would be okay if it was also safer than the old car, but it’s not. I think they can make some real fixes to it and improve it, I just don’t know if they will.

I remember 2014 being a lot of fun, but they also struggled with dirty air. I don’t know when nascar had it perfect in terms of the on track product and parity. I think as long as you have a splitter dirty air is going to be a problem.

Been extremely sick the past few days. Went back on YT and watched a majority of the 2002 season. I really think early to mid 2000's was peak NASCAR. It really had the perfect mixture of everything.

NASCAR’s peak years was the mid 90s to mid 00s. The Gordon-Earnhardt rivalry blossomed the sport to a bigger stage. Jeff and Dale did a great job playing it off to the media and fans, knowing how great it was. Behind closed doors, both drivers were really close. Even after Earnhardt’s death, NASCAR was growing up until 2004. The Introduction of the chase was the first of a string of many bad decisions made by NASCAR.

I hated how they did so many laps of caution waiting on the rain to start. Make the crew chiefs decide if they want to gamble and pit or not.
Plus, they knew it was going to rain heading into the weekend. They could have moved up the start like an hour (I believe they can do that if announce 48 hours ahead of time).
Byron has found that golden horseshoe Harvick said Jimmie Johnson used to have. I feel like all 4 of Byron's wins this season there has been a massive amount of luck involved (more so than normal).

I think Denny Hamlin has surpassed Kyle Busch as NASCAR’s villain.

All he has to do is switch to Chevy and he’ll be back in good graces. Just ask KB 😉

As far as Denny is concerned, I’m a fan and he definitely didn’t give Larson room. I’ll be interested to see what he says on Actions Detrimental.

That said, Larson races the same way at times and on the dirt track as well. So I don’t see how he can be that upset.

Kyle Busch going to RCR and getting into a Chevy has done wonders for his PR and perception

Post-mortem after hearing Denny's comments, I don't agree with him doubling down and saying he didn't touch Larson. He had to know that he was sliding up the track and that Larson was there. The spotter was telling him as much.

I would respect it a lot more if he came out and said he looked at the tape and realized that they got together, but that it is hard racing and he was going for a huge win and playoff push.

I think Larson, who clearly races that way himself, and most NASCAR fans would respect that take more than his doubling down and "not my fault" stance.
