The Official Nfl Draft Thread

Miami Selects Matt Rowth

Resourceful hustler with a quick burst. Combines good edge speed with a power rush. Is explosive; consistently finds his way into the backfield. Is very disruptive. Uses hands well. Isn't particular strong at the point of attack, however, and can be run against. Sometimes gets locked on to blockers. Had a strong Senior Bowl to boost his stock. Im not a Miami Fan but it was a very good pick up in the second round.

Jets just made one of the best picks in the draft. they are going to have a very reliable kicker for the next 14 years.

i think you found an excuse to pad threads

Nah just posting who all is getting drafted. I can stop If you want me to.

Jacksonville selects Khalif Barnes/ OT/ Washington.

Very good pick. Barnes redshirted as a defensive tackle in 2000 but switched to offensive tackle during the week of practice leading up to the 2001 Rose Bowl. Barnes had started 42-consecutive games dating back to his redshirt freshman season in 2001 prior to suffering a season-ending broken wrist in practice leading up to the Oregon State game (Oct. 16). The wrist injury is completely healed and should not have any long-term effects. Barnes has good overall size and has the frame to get bigger. He is a terrific natural athlete and he also has above average strength. In terms of physical tools, Barnes ranks among the elite. The concern, however, is that Barnes was an inconsistent performance at the collegiate level and is the type that needs to be motivated in order to get the most out of him.

Baltimore selects Dan cody

Cody played in nine games as a true freshman in 2000 and earned a starting job at defensive end as a sophomore in 2001, but left the team to deal with a medical condition (clinical depression) after the season opener and wound up using his medical redshirt that season. Cody returned healthy as rotating backup in 2002 before regaining his starting position as a junior in 2003, when he led the Sooners with 10 sacks. He started slow as a senior in 2004 but came on strong in the second half and finished the season (13 games) with 16 TFL and 10 sacks. Cody is on medication to treat his depression but it has seemingly had no effect on his play the last two seasons and doctors tell Cody that it should continue to be a non-factor.

carolina takes eric shelton

Shelton began his career at Florida State, where he played 11 games as a freshman in 2001 and rushed for 130 yards on 29 carries. He transferred from Florida State to Louisville in 2002 and sat out that season because of NCAA transfer rules. Shelton rushed for 790 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2003 but missed the final three games with a neck injury. As a junior in 2004, Shelton led the Cardinals with 938 yards rushing and tied the school mark for rushing touchdowns in a season with 20. He carried just 146 times, averaging 6.4 yards per carry. Shelton is somewhat of an enigma after transferring early in his career and then splitting carries with two other backs (Lionel Gates and Michael Bush) the past two seasons.

Buffalo selected Roscoe Parrish

Parrish red-shirted in 2001. He returned punts and started three games at WR in 2002, catching 14 passes for 271 yards and one touchdown. He provided excellent depth and returned punts in 2003, finishing with 24 catches for 322 yards and two touchdowns. He moved into the starting lineup in 2004 and finished the season with 39 receptions for 630 yards and eight touchdowns. Parrish also returned 17 punts for 252 yards and one touchdown last year. Parrish is extremely undersized and, as a result, he may never develop into an outside starter. However, Parrish has the potential to develop into a sure-handed and shifty slot receiver that can also contribute as a punt return specialist. As a result, Parrish grades out as a second or early-third round prospect in the 2005 NFL draft.

Having fun by yourself in here, 2345? :p

Well I figure I am doing something for somebody here. I mean someone has to like what I am doing right now.

Denver selects Darrent Williams

this man is super fast. 4.29 forty fast. Williams played in 10-of-11 games and started one as a true freshman in 2001 before becoming a fulltime 13-game starter for the Cowboys as a sophomore in '02. He played in and started 11-of-13 games as a junior in '03 and finished with 66 total tackles, four TFL, six INT's and 17 PBU. Williams only played in seven games as a senior in 2004 due to a broken forearm and a suspension for the team's trip to the Alamo Bowl. He finished with just 21 tackles, zero INT's and one PBU. Williams is a small cornerback with limitations in terms of his potential to play on the outside in the NFL. However, Williams has everything else you look for in an NFL cornerback. He is quick, fast, athletic and instinctive.
