Bottom line is Memphis made shots. Stephens with a 3, Thomas made two 3's, and they made tough shots around the rim that they have not been making. We were hoping that we could finally come out and shoot well. Memphis just made shots to win.
I am a little disappointed in the coaching- thinking that Golden can guard Jackson and McBee could guard Johnson. I guess we did see McRae, Richardson, and Lopez late. But the adjustment was made too late.
But Zo is a great coach...... supposedly....
Be careful criticizing Zo around here.... lol.....
Seriously though I do question Martin's floor coaching....and his scout.... but what do I know.... my guy got fired but he did go to six straight AA's tourneys...

Good game Vols. How about Jordan Mc-F'ing-Rae? Hopefully he can keep shooting like that and get UT out of their zone defense funk.
He and Richardson played a great game.
I also think Coach Josh Pastner coached a good game. In the first half, the Vols struggled mightily against the zone (and I saw some Donovan-esque "matchup zone" thrown in there). I hope you guys give ole CJP a break now, he called a great one.

He's a fluky missed dunk away from blowing a 21 point lead in the second half against a team that struggled to score 50 most nights.
What kind of coaching job is that? Geron Johnson bailed his ass out. Pastner did nothing.
C'mon man, give credit where credit is due. If McRae didn't get hot, would that last 10 minutes have been interesting?
Both CCM and CJP had a week to get ready for this one.
One's team shot 56% from the field and 64% from 3, and one's didn't.
A great one? Really? If UT would've pulled off that miraculous comeback Pastner would've been roasted.
You will still have problems with teams that have equal talent because Pastner's coaching will not win him many game. Pastner's lucky he can recruit. There was no one on UT's squad that could stay with Jackson. That was the difference in the game.
And yet almost lost.
Memphis outplayed UT and deserved the win. Trying to act like Pastner had a great gameplan because he went into a zone (which McRae shot them out of anyways) is ludicrous.
Almost lost? What game were you watching?
UT was never within one possession during the entire second half. How did Memphis "almost lose"?
You guys are making yourselves look awful, I came here to commend your team and this is how you act in defeat?

I'm not big on the whole "deserve to win" thing (except in very rare occasions of officiating miscues that literally cost a game or something like that).
We didn't deserve to win. If we played like we did alot of the second half the whole game, we probably would have won. But we didn't. IMO you don't deserve to win just because you play really hard or a couple breaks go against you. We went down by 21 points (for quite a long time). That's on us. Now Memphis could have blown that lead (and almost did), but don't say we deserved to win. We didn't play the whole game (similar to many football games this past year).
