The Official Tennesse vs. Memphis Game Thread, 8:00pm ET, ESPN2

If CCM hadn't let his guys get down by 21 at home in the second half, a "miraculous comeback" wouldn't be needed.

CCM needs to bow down and thank McRae for making some shots, or else this game could've been REALLY out of hand.

He didn't let his guys get down. They missed shots like they usually do and didn't play good transition defense in the 1st half. When you miss shots, you better have transition defense and they didn't.

That's like me asking why did Pastner let UT back in it? Down 21 and had a chance to cut it to 2, but Richardson missed a dunk.

Memphis shot 56.4% and 63.6% from 3 and only won by 5 over a team that rarely breaks 70. Pastner will never, ever make a Final 4 unless he has unbelievable talent. He has good talent right now, but his X's and O's especially on defense will not win him many games in the NCAA tourney. Mark my words.

I didn't think he was out of line. The Tigers played a great game; I don't think Pastner was the main cause of it.

I saw an AMAZING zone defense by Memphis, one I have never seen before (and I watch every game) that gave UT fits for 30 minutes. We came off it when Jordan McRae hit several 3s in a row, but Pastner implemented that defense.

It's ridiculous not to give Pastner credit for this win, on the road, without his second best player, when both programs had an entire week to prepare for one another.

Almost lost? What game were you watching?

UT was never within one possession during the entire second half. How did Memphis "almost lose"?

You guys are making yourselves look awful, I came here to commend your team and this is how you act in defeat?

UT cut it to 4 and it would've been 2 but Richardson missed a dunk on the previous play. Are you on crack or just stupid?

my bad zjc. lol, completely misread that line.

I got on my rant because people always say that when most of the time it's not true.

Sorry about that man! Carry on everybody :ninja:

Going zone defense against UT? Wow, that's incredibly profound. I know to zone UT, along with everyone else we've played this season. UT is an awful offense.

Sure he gets credit for the win. His team was ready and UT's was not at the beginning of the game. Suggesting he did a great job (your words) is just, again, ludicrous.

UT would have cut it to six on the missed dunk, according to ESPN. UT got it to four on Richardson's jumper with 41 seconds to go.

If he hits the dunk and then the jumper it would've been a net of 2 right? I know it was a big swing because he missed and then they made a shot and 1 right?

Sad.

Memphis got a three point play in between. Now, if you want to play hypothetical, UT gets back, makes a stop, then J-Rich hits the jumper, it's down to 4.

What's sad is coming on an opponent's message board trying to brag about your coach's awesome game when he almost let one of the worst offensive teams in the South come back down 21 in the second half.

That's sad.

He did a great job. I've never seen a zone with man principles played by our team, and it threw Golden and McBee for a loop in the first half. I believe in luck, but I don't think Pastner simply lucked into that play call.

Yeah, you acting like Pastner coached some type of great game is sad.

Mark my words and tell us when Pastner gets Memphis to a Final 4. Hell, with the talent he has he should be Sweet 16 minimum, but he'll find a way to screw it up. He usually does.

Threw Golden and McBee for a loop? Are you serious? LMFAO!!!! They've looked like that pretty much all year. Where the hell have you been?

I came here to say good game. I mentioned that Pastner coached a good game, which he did, and you and ole whats his name jumped all over me.

I'll be here when the season is over. Will you?

I didn't make the decision to put them on the court today.

He makes the decision to put them on the court and where were they when UT made their run?

Maymon is out, Reese was out, Edwards was out and Golden has a hurt shoulder. He has not been the same since he hurt it 3 games ago. He doesn't have a lot of other choices at this time, but they were on the bench with a walk on PG leading the way.

Oh wow, what an accomplishment! Play a zone against UT. Please. Great job doing the most obvious thing there is. That's like a team that usually tries to stuff the run playing the Green Bay Packers and saying "Well, they have Aaron Rodgers and don't average 3 YPC. Let's drop seven and guard against him." Well duh-freaking-duh.

No, you didn't. You came over, and then said "Can we lay off Pastner for a while?" (which is an obvious statement to get people riled up anyways) even though you almost blew a 21 point lead in the second half. And then threw CCM under the bus and just described our come back as McRae getting lucky as hell.

I've been here before you and I'll be here after you. Then I'll tell you told you so in March. And I'll do it every single March. Pastner better get unbelievable talent or great assts. His in game coaching is average at best. Ask any coach that knows the game.

And maybe coming in trying to talk to UT FANS AFTER A LOSS isn't such a great idea, no is it?

We'll settle then. You can ask me how my coach did, I can ask you the same.

Playing a 2-3 zone and playing a 2-3 zone with man prnciples are very different.
