The Official Tennessee @ #18 Kentucky Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN2

honestly….what’s wrong with taking a photo? They weren’t stomping on the logo or anything.

I’ve been to many games @ Neyland since the 90s where opponents gathered at midfield on the “T.” If you don’t like it then beat them. Simple. I don’t care for it as I’m old school but it happens every week around the country.

Or I feel like we could be at least two wins better with competent coaching and executing.

Yeah, I get your point. Pitt was winnable. UF should have been closer, which moves it into "winnable" range. Ole Miss, winnable.

So, yeah, if all the stars line up, UT is what...7-2 at this point?

Go find anyone in Vegas to give you the odds on that one. But if we take into account how the Pruitt / Fulmer era ended; the new admin; the recruiting losses; the NCAA investigation; the portal losses; and trying to just field a competitive football team, much less a competitive SEC football team...well, I'm in the camp that thinks CJH and his staff have done a hell of a job. Perfect? No. Impressive? Yes.

You go find the competent-er coach and execution that could have put us in a better place than where we are now. Share it with us.

I'll take what we have.

Go Vols.

I had no idea when I posted this how lopsided it would end up.
Yep,
13:56 for the Vols
45:19 for the Cats.

So the Vols offense were on the field for literally less than 1 Q(-25%), all while their defense had to play over 3 Q(+75%) And the defense also provided 6 of our points with that pick 6.

I know everyone loves to blame the defense here, but if you look at those times of possession, and also take into account the defense provided 6 of our total points, you have to be probably the dumbest person to think the defense was the weak link.

And to be clear, I’m not saying the offense is a weak link. I just know enough about football to know that you can’t expect a defensive unit to play over 75% of the time and not get gassed.

You seem like a miserable person
I'm happy for the win. I think both the players and coaches on the defensive side of the ball need to earn their scholarships/salaries. If we had been playing a top offense and had been that ineffectual for 99% of the game, I would chalk it up to lack of depth; but we were awful from their opening drive, and we were playing against the offense that is ranked 12th out of 14 in the SEC - as in, only South Carolina and Vandy are behind them, and we made them look like the Greatest Show on Turf.

Giving up an 80% conversion rate on third down is inexcusable, all the time, period. Any D-I team that has scholarship players and paid coaches should be able to do better than that. South Carolina held UK to 16 points; UT Chattanooga held them to 28.

Come on. The kid competed hard and was very passionate. After he shed his tears he went over and shook hands with UT players. The refs screwed them over for sure. I am thrilled that we won but take away the missed face mask and the 15 yard penalty and it could have been a different outcome. We tried hard to give it away but hung on. Wish we could have found a way to score from the 5 and end the game but it is what it is. Great to get a win in a close game but I understand why their QB was upset.

How so? The refs had defined a no penalty zone tackle to tackle and back ten yards from their LOS. They did this to avoid calling holding on KY's OL but had the integrity to apply it to that play also. So we still came up short by about ten calls.

It will be closer than you think
Don't bet the house on that. UGA is on another level even than Bama this year, particularly their defense. Their strength will take away our strength, and their offense has a hell of a lot better players, and a bunch of them, thank UK.

The defense is the weak link. They allow

They are playing hard. They are primarily responsible for the TOP because they cannot stop drives and get off the field.

Hey folks, I was listening on the road till the second quarter or so. Did they ever show a replay with Hyatt out of bounds on that play where we came up empty just after? Or was a really clear real time? Just curious since the radio crew was kind of vague about it.

So what? You still play the game.
Are you going to celebrate tonight’s win which all but guarantees us a bowl bid?
I am absolutely happy for the win, and think we have improved. Hopefully Heupel has enough sense to expect more from his DC because that defensive performance tonight was ass. Being thin has nothing to do with stupid crap like giving up a 26-yard pass play on fourth and 24, or players constantly out of position, missing assignments, etc., not to mention how consistently clueless we seemed in response to their not exactly expansive repertoire of play calls.

But did they win?

You have fun fighting the good fight on here. I’m gonna go celebrate the $800 I won on the game.

I was unhappy about alit off things but seem to have forgotten everything before we went to VICTORY formation. You should do the same. Peace ✌️

I DVRed the game. Gimme a few. You remember at what point the play in question is? By the clock?

Edit: OK, I just got to it. From what I can see, he was close to the sideline, but the spot where he might have stepped out did not seem to be on the camera view. There was no second angle on it, or at least ESPN did not show one. I thought he was in, but the angle we got was one I have to give the ref the benefit of the doubt on. Hyatt was kind of tight roping along the edge.
