The Official Tennessee @ #18 Kentucky Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN2

It was a penalty. Refs must not have seen it.

Looking for Stoops to be fined by the SEC.

What did he do to or with the facemask that would have made it a foul by the rule posted? No question his hand was around the curvature of the facemask, but can you show a clip where he grasped it and twisted the guys head while doing so?

Hope we find out it was reviewed and they determined it did not meet the rules.

Some interesting notes from Lexington newspaper:

-This is the second time since 2016 that UK has had over 600 yards of total offense vs. UT and lost. In 2016, the Cats outgained the Vols 635-599 but lost 49-36 at Neyland Stadium.

-With the loss, Mark Stoops is now 55-53 (since 2013) as Kentucky head coach. That moves him past Bill Curry (26-52 from 1990 through 1996) as the coach with the most defeats in UK football history. He is 2-7 against the Volunteers.

-With the loss, Kentucky (6-3, 4-3 SEC) also saw its all-time record as a program drop back to .500 at 635-635-44.

-The last time the Wildcats beat the Volunteers in back-to-back seasons remains 1976 (7-0 at Neyland Stadium) and 1977 (21-17 at Commonwealth Stadium). UK last beat UT three out of five in 1958 (a 6-2 win in Knoxville), 1959 (20-0 in Lexington) and 1962 (12-10 in Knoxville).

-UK was 130-0 in its history when it scored at least 42 points in regulation until tonight.

-Kentucky has had two other teams finish with nine regular-season victories: the 1949 edition and Mark Stoops’ 2018 squad. Both of those groups, like this one, lost to Tennessee.

Schadenfreude is great.
As bad as we have been over the last ~20 years, our overall record is well over .500 at .670.

If it was oppo day then you would be mad they didn’t call it.

I provide no proof. The refs didn’t call it so it doesn’t matter.

If you cannot provide proof why did you make a declarative statement it was a foul and not a speculation it might be a foul? Bad calls or missed calls do matter, does not change the score but does impact the validity of a victory or loss.

They got the first down anyway so it is a moot point. It would have been 4-9 vs 4-24 if it had not been for Stoops. in essence it was a wash.

It was a face mask penalty that wasn't called. I'm pretty sure it can't be reviewed. The converted the 4th down; therefore, it is a moot point. They had plenty of time and couldn't convert a later 4th down.

Yeah, I get your point. Pitt was winnable. UF should have been closer, which moves it into "winnable" range. Ole Miss, winnable.

So, yeah, if all the stars line up, UT is what...7-2 at this point?

Go find anyone in Vegas to give you the odds on that one. But if we take into account how the Pruitt / Fulmer era ended; the new admin; the recruiting losses; the NCAA investigation; the portal losses; and trying to just field a competitive football team, much less a competitive SEC football team...well, I'm in the camp that thinks CJH and his staff have done a hell of a job. Perfect? No. Impressive? Yes.

You go find the competent-er coach and execution that could have put us in a better place than where we are now. Share it with us.

I'll take what we have.

Go Vols.

Well Hell! What else can we do?

This silly tempo offense is wearing on the defense. When you can't eat clock because you go so fast the defense gets no rest. For example when Evans was limping the play before going down slow it down on short yardage. Rushing that bubble screen was retarded.

Ah another wannabe coach complaining about us putting crooked numbers on the scoreboard too fast

I should have bet the barn....View attachment 409696

If it makes you feel less disappointed I failed to use the wise choice which is to bet on the Gamecocks to defeat the Gators since I could have won more than 25 dollars.

That would have been something good because I had a 5 team parlay that failed because my Washington Huskies lost to a great Oregon Ducks team. A huge failure because I would have won 2598 dollars.

I had a parlay of 6 teams’ money line and, for the second time this season on a parlay, Florida screwed me. No more betting on Florida, however, I can’t help but think I’m the reason they suck now, so I may keep paying to watch them get flushed.

How is it unlearned? They couldn’t cover or tackle anyone all night.
No mention of the lack of depth due to injuries, Kentucky running 99 plays while Vol defense left on the field way too long, the fact that the Tennessee defense has far exceeded expectations, etc. Yes, the Vols have given up too much up the middle this season; recruiting of more talented big uglies will help that.

I agree on all of those points, but my point was that we played much better defense against much better offenses this year. I don’t know if it was just a terrible game plan to sit back in soft coverage while not pressuring the QB or what, but something was off. When we were in position to make a play, we missed a lot of tackles. That started with the first drive.

Vols struggle with strong running teams with big offensive line. Next up: Georgia. GULP.

Because it was a foul and your trying to convince yourself that it wasn’t.

Of course bad/missed calls matter but you can’t change what didn’t happen so get over it and move on.

If you are a KY fan, this game absolutely rips your guts out...To look at the statistical scoreboard, the KY dominance, and still manage to lose this game is unbelievable...I try not to gloat, but not trying too hard at the moment...

It’s UK. They, like us, are accustomed.
