The Official Tennessee @ Auburn Series Thread (Fri. April 5th 7PM EST) (Sat. April 6th 4:30PM EST) (Sun. April 7th 2PM EST) (All Games On SECNET+)

You keep reminding me of those dark dark days…worse than a damn horror movie. Haha
The baseball stadium being an embarrassment isn’t that far in the past. Being passed over for southern miss to host a super is embarrassing. I think that happening was a major catalyst in how fast renovations have moved along since though, and that’s the silver lining

I only wish we had room to move back to 330-400-330 walls instead of 320-390-320

If I had to bet on which program wins a title first out of the big 3.. I’d put it all on baseball. Without a doubt the closest of them all

I totally agree. My son asked me that a while ago and I said definitely baseball. He asked me again right before the elite 8 game against Purdoo, and was surprised that I still said definitely still baseball.

It really has more to do with Tony than anything. He just has that aura about him. I can’t describe it so I hope you know what I mean. But most championship caliber coaches have it.

Yeah, I got you. I think part of it is that he is extremely focused and competitive but nevertheless is a genuine and likable guy that players want to play for and he keeps them loose, for the most part. That's a difficult balance to find. I do think it helps to have coach Q as essentially the bad cop, and those close to the program talked about how toughness regressed a bit the year that Q was with the Cubs.

I think baseball allows for him to be candid in ways he’d never be allowed to be if he coached basketball or football.

For all the unwritten rules that essentially ban emotion in baseball, it’s paradoxically the most open and honest sport as far as players and coaches speaking to the media goes.

Except for Gerrit Cole. That guy won’t say **** to the media lol

If it happens to not be us this year do you guys think Van Horn finally gets his this year? Where do you guys stand on him and what he has built in Fayetteville?
I’d say besides the obvious one in Vanderbilt, Tony has facilitated an insanely heated rivalry with Arkansas and LSU. I’ve never seen a bitter rival spring up as fast as those two have over the last few years but the teams and fans absolutely hate each other.

Prior to that happening, I’d have said I like DVH and would like him to catch the white whale.

But now….

Arkansas fans would use that national title and hang it over our head forever until we won our own. Pass

I get that personally…but take that out of equation. Think he gets his at some point along the line?

Surely. South Carolina was never going to break through is what I heard from the cock side of my family my entire life, until they did.

Mississippi school fans have been saying that about each other for decades and they both broke through essentially simultaneously.

DVH winning a title is more likely than either of the prior two things that already happened happening simply because he’s a better coach than any of those guys.. besides maybe Ray Tanner.

Then again, Marino never won his Super Bowl.
