The Official Tennessee @ Auburn Series Thread (Fri. April 5th 7PM EST) (Sat. April 6th 4:30PM EST) (Sun. April 7th 2PM EST) (All Games On SECNET+)

Trying to watch Vols baseball tonite vs Auburn (maybe glad I was unable to given our pitching problems) and have been unable to access the tv broadcasts.

I have espn+ and was able to watch any college baseball game I wanted last season. This year, I am getting an "ineligible to access this broadcast" type message for every Vols game.
It's worth noting that my ESPN+ has had various problems the past several months, like being able to read the plus articles from the college football page, but the nba page half the time tells me I need to open an account to read the article. Of course, I already have an account. I have looked everywhere on the ESPN website to find a phone# or even a live chat to get the problem solved. I keep getting taken to a page with articles on different troubleshooting topics, which are zero help.

Anyone having a similar problem ? Does anyone know how to contact espn for support ?
Best advice is delete the app and reinstall. Usually fixes the bug.

Ok…thoughts on game.

1) the scout on Causey has been circulated. Now it’s time for him and CFA to adjust accordingly. He was absolutely dominant early on.
2) Bullpen is looking very good.
*Combs looked like his old self. Getting him back to par will be huge.
*Kirby is having a tremendous season. Just another great performance by Vollie Fingers. *Stamos looked solid as well.
3) Chapman needs to get more ABs.
4) Let’s take a look at Alex Perry at 3B.
5) CMO just can’t whiff on a tag. Kirby’s pickoff move is just elite but got to have the out there. Luckily, it didn’t hurt us.
6) I doubt we see Russell until May so have to find another starter. Is it one of the freshman or do we turn to Snead?

Yep. Still, for me, it's all about getting healthy. We just need Amick and Antigua to get back to 100%. Then may the best men win. AB's will be hard to come by I suspect. Really hope that becomes a problem because it means we got a lot of sticks to play with. Right now, I'm really puzzled by Peebles. Kinda think things are in his head the way it was with Burke last season. If he snaps out of it and joins Amick and Antigua in a "return", we'll be a sight offensively. Pitching, on the other hand, is a real worry. No offense to Causey, but I've never been a big fan of pitchers with his type delivery. Kinda gimmicky to me. Our starting rotation just doesn't give me confidence. Got a couple of security blankets in the pen and having Combs come on is a real plus. I just don't think we can have a successful season without some of the young arms rounding into form. Anderson is going to have to work some magic with guys like Dallas. Now the elephant in the room is Russell. All I've read indicates there's no structural damage. Someone correct me if I've missed something. Might be his motion that needs tweaking, but do you do that during the season? Nope. Seems like it might be better to use him in relief until he's stretched out and frankly, if he excels in the bullpen, just leave him there for the season. Maybe consider Snead as a starter like you mentioned. Our season is going to hinge on our arms. Gotta find some answers and get this settled.

Sinus headaches took me out early last night. Game was hard to watch. I've read a lot of good ideas. Time to make adjustments and just hit the ball and score runs. Thankful Braves and Lady Vols were winners. It is a new day. Get two of the last three men! Go Vols!

I said it last year and got jumped on, but I'll say it again. Not much pitching instruction going on over there at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Y'all said "Franks this and Franks that, look how many he sent to the MLB".

Well, we're about to find out if he still has it or not.

Having Robin/Chapman go O’fer in the 3 hole I would like to see change. Until Amick is back we can’t have that spot going hitless. Move Tears/Dreiling up in order…possibly Bargo.

I can see why your take “got jumped on”. No offense.:). CFA is considered by the folks that truly know baseball as one of the absolute best in the business. Plenty of quality instruction going on at LNS.

I think we like everyone else have a few holes to plug and it starts with getting healthy , the one issue I have with Tony is leaving guys in too long , last night Causey was getting ripped and he just left him in too long , they hit a lot of pitches on the barrel , I thought the pen was pretty good once again , it looks like Beam and Causey are leaving a lot of pitches over the plate , we’re not gonna keep giving up 9 or 10 runs and consistently win

why get jumped on? the record is what it is. Last year regression has been cited. Highly touted prospects not making contribution. Baseball insiders? Just watch the games.

Sure he's considered one of the best, so we'll see if he still has what it takes. Tony, Josh, and Frank do a great job recruiting. But the pitching talent is brought in, not developed. And the portal has now made it even easier to "plug n play". They carry 20 pitchers? If you think he's got the time to develop even half of them, well, not. Coaching for what, 40 years? Won't be surprised if we see CFA retire soon or take on another role.

I just find it humorous that when people have a negative take, they get their feelings hurt (or are surprised) when folks respond to their negative take with disagreement.

CFA’s pitching staffs at UT have consistently been rated top 10 by almost every conceivable metric. The facts simply don’t support your claims.

I don’t understand the ‘highly touted prospects’ getting ruined argument. The reason our pitchers were highly touted last year was because they had excelled beyond expectations the prior year. And who was their pitching coach that year when they excelled? That’s right, it was CFA.

You can’t blame him when there is some regression but also not acknowledge him for helping players get to their peak to begin with. The performances of Beam, Dollander and Burns two years ago were all above and beyond what we expected, as I recall it, but the more you pitch the more the blueprint gets out.

Combs has good stuff and needs more game time. I also think by tournament time we'll see Snead ALOT more

Would like to fact check that, but looking at Team ERA since 2019.....3.59, 2.00, 3.51, 2.51, and last year 3.63. Vols Team ERA right now is #11 in the country and running 3.73.

So give or take the same stats…pitching really isn’t the problem people think it is. Bats cant go silent for 7 innings. Plays have to be made in the field when presented. I swear the double play should been made last night, along with the hard hit ball to Cmo. Sometimes you just have to pick the the pitchers up.

In SEC games, it is 6.67 and 9th in the conference. BA against is .299 and 11th in the conference.

Our BA is still first but the bad news there is we have played the 10,13 and 14 highest ERAs (obviously, part of that is a product of playing us) and are now playing the 12 highest ERA (again, schedule plays a role). The scary part is so far our hitting is keeping us in many games but it won’t always carry us as the schedule gets tougher.

If plays were made how many runs would Auburn have scored last night?

Just like last year...we are doing a good job of pacing ourselves on the long road to Omaha.

CMO *could* have stopped a big inning, but it would have been a whale of a play on a crushed line drive that dropped and ricocheted to CF. AU scored a bunch after that in their big inning.

Other than that, I don’t recall many plays that may have saved runs; am I missing some? (I admit, Iwas channel hopping a bit as required by she-who must-be-obeyed. 😉)
