The Official Tennessee @ Auburn Series Thread (Fri. April 5th 7PM EST) (Sat. April 6th 4:30PM EST) (Sun. April 7th 2PM EST) (All Games On SECNET+)

I think we like everyone else have a few holes to plug and it starts with getting healthy , the one issue I have with Tony is leaving guys in too long , last night Causey was getting ripped and he just left him in too long , they hit a lot of pitches on the barrel , I thought the pen was pretty good once again , it looks like Beam and Causey are leaving a lot of pitches over the plate , we’re not gonna keep giving up 9 or 10 runs and consistently win
Part of being a Friday night guy is you gotta battle thru the tough innings. You really mess yourself up the rest of the weekend when you’re in the BP in the 2nd & 3rd inning.

I think we’re seeing AJ ain’t a Friday night SEC guy. Maybe Sunday or mid relief. Jmo

Would like to fact check that, but looking at Team ERA since 2019.....3.59, 2.00, 3.51, 2.51, and last year 3.63. Vols Team ERA right now is #11 in the country and running 3.73.
How about the team ERA for SEC games?

Edit: Just saw they were posted above. Big difference.

CMO *could* have stopped a big inning, but it would have been a whale of a play on a crushed line drive that dropped and ricocheted to CF. AU scored a bunch after that in their big inning.

Other than that, I don’t recall many plays that may have saved runs; am I missing some? (I admit, Iwas channel hopping a bit as required by she-who must-be-obeyed. 😉)
Go back and watch our double play attempt. I need to but naked eye looked very lackluster on throw over to first. That play bugged me but maybe I saw something that I am jumping to conclusions on.

Vols are #4 with a 3.94 ERA...
That’s ALL games. Scroll down for “SEC games only”. IMO, a better metric than including all the cupcakes every team plays. Of course, the schedule isn’t completely balanced but it does more accurately display “our recent pitching concerns”.

If plays were made how many runs would Auburn have scored last night?
Baseball is a game of inches and missed and made plays. How many runs would TN have scored if Curley doesn’t swing at Ball 4 with the bases loaded or we don’t try to steal home with two on and Burke at bat? How many good pitches are ruined by missed plays in the field and how many bad pitches saved by going a few feet foul (I remember one potential 3-run bomb Auburn “just missed“)? Them’s the breaks….

Yes and our team has to make the breaks and help the pitchers out. You also cant go 7 scoreless innings at the plate and not be held accountable either. I do not care how great the lineup is. Go 7 innings without scoring in postseason and see how far that gets you. I’m holding all accountable here..I just can’t harp on pitching alone like rest are when I see improvement that can be made everywhere. I will admit that any fielding miscue is my personal no-no and bugs me way more than a hung pitch here or there and a bad at bat or two.

lol let’s see…let me count the ways..

Because I own a Subaru, I’m a lesbian. Because I own two Subarus. I’m asexual even though it would make more sense for me to be Bi?

Apparently we can’t hire a coach until “We get rid of the old guard” , which I thought we did when Dave Whack Job Hart was here.
I dunno. I was accused of liking Molly Miller because she is blond even though she has an .843 winning percentage.

So yeah…if I wanna watch the Tigers and Owls go at it…I’m gonna f’n do just that.

GBO!!!
I own two Subarus and I like women. OMG, I'm a lesbian!

Trying to watch Vols baseball tonite vs Auburn (maybe glad I was unable to given our pitching problems) and have been unable to access the tv broadcasts.

I have espn+ and was able to watch any college baseball game I wanted last season. This year, I am getting an "ineligible to access this broadcast" type message for every Vols game.
It's worth noting that my ESPN+ has had various problems the past several months, like being able to read the plus articles from the college football page, but the nba page half the time tells me I need to open an account to read the article. Of course, I already have an account. I have looked everywhere on the ESPN website to find a phone# or even a live chat to get the problem solved. I keep getting taken to a page with articles on different troubleshooting topics, which are zero help.

Anyone having a similar problem ? Does anyone know how to contact espn for support ?
I have had to reselect my service provider (YouTube TV) once or twice this season but I have been able to watch all of the games, even the bad ones.

Having Robin/Chapman go O’fer in the 3 hole I would like to see change. Until Amick is back we can’t have that spot going hitless. Move Tears/Dreiling up in order…possibly Bargo.
I'm a Bargo fan but he went 0 for 4 with 4Ks yesterday.

I don't think people mind the disagreement, I think it's the personal attacks/insults that I hate.
Bingo! People really do have hard time staying on subject and somehow take a disagreement on sports as a personal affront.

I think we are saying basically the same thing. Pitching IS a problem. Your Friday night starter can’t give up 8 runs in less than 2 innings. I posted stats to point out our ERA is nearly double in SEC play. And although we have the highest BA, in SEC play, that has been achieved against some of the weakest pitching. That is evidenced by getting shut down for 7 innings last night. Not the first time THAT has happened in SEC play. Missing plays in the field hurts when your pitching isn’t there. So does boneheaded baserunning and swinging at crap pitches when you have scoring opportunities. We have many things that contribute to losing, not just pitching.

Yes...bet we see a new face starting next Friday night.

It is weird, but on SEC weekends, you somewhat have to let the first guy get at least 70ish pitches. Good, bad, or ugly.

Otherwise, as you state,...you burn thru too much bullpen chasing after a probable Loss.

Amplified this year by an arms shortage at this point in the season.

I would love to know from all these, Coach Anderson haters who they would consider the top pitching coaches in the nation. Please don’t tell me it is Wake Forest because they’re pitching Staff is getting destroyed except for the one pitcher that Frank sent their way. Problem with Pitching today is that the only way you get drafted is to throw really hard whether you or not They are looking for throwers not pitchers so with that, guys are more worried about throwing hard than developing the ability to pitch and throw strikes
