Burns is responding nicely but has zero support from the offense. That's the most significant difference from last year. Last year we could be trailing 7-3 headed into the 9th, and every TN player believed we would win that game. This year, we go down 3 runs in the first and there's a collective sigh of "just wasn't our day" feeling in the air.
Last year’s team was a unicorn due to inflated COVID rosters which gave us tremendous experience and depth Roster was filled with seniors and graduate students who had played their entire careers together. We will NEVER see a team that dominates like that. As you said, UT is replacing their entire 9 on offense. That’s a tough challenge but we will okay and this team will gel and get better.I can’t believe we are sitting here making excuses and whining about playing on the road in the cold to start SEC play. Get real we had to replace our whole stating lineup from last year. I’m a VFL we are not going to be as dominant as we were last year just be honest. That doesn’t make me a bandwagon fan it’s just facts and that’s okay. We have the pitching but not being to score runs like we did last year puts more pressure on our starting pitchers.
There is a reason baseball isn’t played in the winter, agree or disagree, it’s a fact.I can’t believe we are sitting here making excuses and whining about playing on the road in the cold to start SEC play.
