The Official Tennessee @ South Carolina Weekend Series Thread (Fri. 7PM EST SEC NET+) (Sat. 2PM EST & 1 Hour after first game completion SEC NETWORK)

Things are getting very interesting. Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Auburn could all end up at 17-13 and tied for the 4 seed. Wonder who would have the tiebreaker in that scenario?
Seeding. The two division champions shall be automatically seeded number one and number two based on winning percentage in Conference competition. The remaining teams shall be seeded numbers three through twelve based on winning percentage without regard to division.

Ties will be broken in the following manner:
1. Two-Team Tie. The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken:
A. Won-lost results of head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.
B. If two-teams are divisional opponents:
(1) Won-lost percentage within their division (over the 15-game Conference division schedule).
(2) Won-lost percentage of the two teams versus the No. 1 team in their division (and proceeding through the No. 7 team, if necessary).
C. If two teams are not divisional opponents:
(1) Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed using common opponents only (and proceeding through the No. 12 seed, if necessary).
(2) Coin flip by the Commissioner.

2. Three-Team Tie (or more). The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken: (Note: If the three tied teams have three different records against each other, they shall be seeded in best-percentage order.) Otherwise, once the tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker procedure will be used.
A. If all three teams are common opponents: Total won-lost percentage of games played among the tied teams.
B. Won-lost percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed and proceeding through the No. 12 seed, if necessary, using common opponents only.
C. If three or more teams still are tied, the Commissioner will conduct a draw.

What time is the first game tomorrow?

I was excited for tomorrow’s doubleheader, but my daughter reminded me that I told her and my wife last Saturday that I would go to the movies tomorrow. 😑 Fast and Furious or some Guardian Galaxy movie.

She’s in from MS State so I can’t say no - 😆.

One of my colleagues is best friends with Dickey’s mom. She told me today that it’s a shoulder sprain and “pain mgmt” is the issue.

She said she’d be surprised if he played this weekend but Hoover may be a possibility. Hopefully he can fight thru the pain and return with little rust.

I got a chuckle as she said she said she asked JD why he left 3rd base on the grounder to the pitcher. Dickey told her that “coach told me to run on contact,” so it wasn’t his fault.

I don’t know the family but my colleague is rooting for the Vols though she is a Bama fan.
Evan Russell told me the exact same thing. They are coached to run on contact on ground balls in that situation, and to force the defense to make a play. Evan said Dickey did exactly what the team is coached to do in that situation. Just hate that he got hurt.

Doesn’t matter now. Piglets gave up an 8-run 8th so the 4 seed is out the window now.

Rejoice in those family moments. They mean everything

We need to take one game tomorrow at minimum to get us on the conversation to host, but honestly a sweep is probably what we’ll need with Alabama coming on strong. It’s looking more and more like Alabama is going to sneak into the hosting picture which ain’t good for us.
Food for thought.... We sweep South Carolina. They would be stuck at 15 SEC wins. I think they get left out of hosting and that frees another spot. There I said it.

Oh, definitely. I think even if USC Jr. wins 1game this weekend they’d be out of the hosting conversation unless they go deep in Hoover. Let’s say they win 1 tomorrow, the Cocks would be 4-11 in their last 15 games, 2-9 in their last 11. I think they’d need to go deep in Hoover to solidify a hosting spot at that point.

All anyone can really hope for at this stage of the season is to control our own destiny, which is precisely where we find ourselves. We need some help, but we’re on the road and we control it, in no small part, because Andrew Lindsey showed up big time today. I know it’s difficult, but try to enjoy it, we’re in the mix.

GBO!!!
