The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Sure, but that’s not how any of this works. It would be like if we drafted 3 bad RBs in a row so you just assumed the fourth would be bad too. These are independent things

Of course, there’s also unfortunately a bit of an underlying emphasis on it because of what they did once they actually found (drafted) a very good WR.

Different GM............Apples to Oranges

I agree, but I was saying its effect towards the whole “franchise continually striking out on WRs” notion and related perceptions and fanbase frustrations, though. This all (unfortunately) sort of dates further back than just Robinson’s tenure.

Still insane to me that some on here supported us trading the best WR in franchise history.

My understanding remains that AJ wanted to move on someplace else.

If a guy doesn't want to be in Nashville, then send them packing.

Can't speak for the others, but it certainly wasn't a physical issue. But, you have to also buy in mentally.

AJ wanted to move because they didn’t want to pay him like an elite receiver

My memory is fuzzy. Didn't the owner, Amy, agree to pay him $100m for four years?

Then J-Rob misplayed his hand.

Eagles probably gave him more, but $25m/year is fairly elite. With the o-line they had, that amount would have equaled $500k per catch.

Allegedly, Titans at least offered $20M/yr with incentives. Brown wanted $80M guaranteed then demanded a trade. He got $25M for 4yrs and ~$57M guaranteed from the Eagles.

I think JRob put a lot of misinformation out there to try and justify/cover-up his decision making. I remember local on air media saying Brown refused 20 million plus incentives and then went dark.

From what I've heard/read Amy was under that impression too but dug a little deeper and found that wasn't exactly how it happened. JRob kind of unilaterally said take it or leave it and when he left it they traded him. Brown had intended to settle with the help of his agent somewhere in between within the number that Amy had advised JRob to work within.

After that and the embarrassment at Philly making them look foolish she had enough...... She was angry.

J Rob was once a promising GM talent. Unfortunately he found himself in the weeds with a couple of picks and gambles didn't pan out. Instead of hitting reset he kept digging the hole for himself.

After we earned the # 1 seed in the AFC, JRob seemed to get a little big for his britches.

There were a couple of reasons that the Titans moved on from AJ.

Mental and physical.

Just what I heard from someone I trust.............Knee questions......

Now that piece of information helps it all make more sense.

After rookie year, I do recall he had a lot of injury problems. Especially for a young guy on a team that doesn't often pass.

It was (just what I heard) that the potential for future issues were there.

I remember hearing this early on. May have been from you. But to be honest we have those same concerns with Henry, even more founded from what I understand.

I honestly think this was part of the disinformation (which often times had some truth to it) that JRob pushed early during the backlash.
