The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Byard has started to show up on defense more for mistakes. Dude has been awesome though but maybe he is on the downhill side now.

I think it’s more about the fact that he will be on the downhill or out of the league by the time we are good again.

You've made your intentions known and sent a signal to the team. They have to go all in with the tank now don't they?

Really surprised we gave up the heart and soul of our defense for two later round picks and a safety that’s been in the league almost as long as he has. Pretty disappointed in what we got out of it.

Not likely/entirely; they’re not going to likely catch up to 0-6 Carolina or the Cardinals with the way those teams are playing…to a point that I’d almost say it would take something bizarre like actual weekly, physically-not-showing-up-at-stadium forfeits.

I do think it’s a sign that they’re pretty much no longer “trying to rebuild on the fly” but rather they’ve accepted/are in a full rebuild…so any players on the older end aren’t safe past the trade deadline or even past this year.

Especially with willingness to accept lower end draft capital for older players (ie, getting any draft capital at all for them being the priority).

We need more draft capital but damn, we needed a 3rd round pick.
Likely - if I had to guess - pick value was deemed to be diminished by Byard’s age as well as by the Titans getting a player back (even though it does feel like this is a “Eagles unloading a player they’re going to be getting rid of type situation.)

If Tannehill can’t play on Sunday no reason to start Willis. Let’s see what Levis can do.
No need to play Willis at all we need to see what we have or don't have in Levis now.

They’ll still go with Willis. Levis was hurt through a good chunk of the preseason/training camp; they’re not likely switching to him until closer to the end of the year unless both Tannehill AND Willis get hurt before then.

(It’s more just the way it tends to go / be planned and played out by teams in the league.)

Tend to agree but you know what you have with Willis and he ain’t going to improve much in season. Start Levin against a below average Falcons team. It doesn’t matter who starts at QB we will be running it and throwing only 5 yard routes all game long anyway.
