The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

After two games of Vrabel with Levis starting, I see two paths.

Vrabel wants to non chalantly tank this year and get a top 10 pick so we can trade it for a big haul in exchange + the near $100m cap space

OR

Vrabel is on his way out on his own terms and knows it and will be bidding for another job. Everyone would speculate New England but I don’t think Billy B is retiring until he gets the wins record.

I think he would leave for New England if it came open other than that I think he will stay here until he gets fired.

Saw something earlier today that predicted that Washington would trade for Bill B.

My personal wish is Vrabel is here until he decides he wants to retire or leave. I hate tanking cause the AFC South is not that good and a 9-11 win team can likely win it.

However having a young QB who is on rookie deal and almost $100m in cap space this offseason, I can’t help but want to get a top 8-10 pick in this draft that we can either draft another lineman with or trade for a lot of capital since this draft is QB HEAVY

If for some god awful reason we don’t draft an offensive lineman we need the top pass catching tight end or receiver.

I hope we don't take an OL in the first again. IMO the Bengals took the smart approach. Once they knew they had their QB in burrow they took Jamar Chase when everyone expected them to build the OL, their OL was way worse than ours is now. A good QB will help cover up a weak OL. We have our QB, now we need playmakers.

Let’s not kid ourselves, we desperately need both. Having a QB who can sling it is one thing (and we still need to see a lot more of Levis before we unequivocally declare him the guy), but the O-line does not need to be a liability. Burrow has taken a beating and his injuries reflect that. I don’t want the same for Levis.

As for WR, Hopkins is awesome but is getting older, and Burks needed an ambulance after a practice-level hit last night. He will never be a reliable option for this team.

Regardless of where we land in the draft I hope it’s BPA at one of those positions.

Especially not another guard

I don’t really get this. Not sure Levis would be the guy you play if you want to tank. You have Willis for that. Hell, Levis has certainly been better than Tannehill.

Unless you weren’t really talking about Levis, but the teams operations more generally (trading Byard, attempting to move Henry, etc.)

Well if you are tanking aka acknowledging this season is lost and you have QB of future, get the reps in and experience.

I don’t think it will be that hard to get a Top 10 picks with 4-6 wins.

Yeah, I edited, I think I misunderstood you at first. For the record, I don’t think Vrabel is remotely on the way out, unless he wants out.

If they actually wanted to move Henry I imagine they could have. And I like Levis. I think he has potential, but it’s not hard to tank with a rookie QB. Especially when you have no WRs, no oline m, and no DBs (1 to be fair, Hooker)

Or option 3, the team just sucks thanks to the roster that was left by the previous GM, and Vrabel is still coaching like his job depends on it. Why would Vrabel want to fizzle out of this job now that he finally has a promising young QB?

I think there is a long term plan, it's why the GM was let go when and how he was. New stadium, just getting younger in the roster because the window closed on the previous roster with Tannehill.

If Vrabel goes it will be on his terms and because he wanted to. He may have something in Levis, hell just have to build the defense back up. It will be interesting to see what they do in the off season and draft. They need db's, lb's, edge rush and possibly an interior D linemen after the season.

They need to upgrade at least 3 positions on the o line. Upgrade wr, need a bigger physical TE and possibly another RB, though I'd keep Henry another year to help Levis if he's the guy moving forward.

If you do it right through draft and free agency you can address these positions in draft and free agency in the next two years.

Play to win. Always. Don’t need a culture of losing.

Honestly, I think Vrabel is maybe top 5-10 in the NFL. But I’d prefer a first round pick if that’s a real offer

Coaching hires are crap shoots we should know that. Vrabs is going to have to have like 2-3 consecutive losing seasons and I mean bad losing seasons for me to want him gone.
If we can get two firsts in this draft it's worth it. Promote Kelly so you have staff continuity with Levis, but getting your LT and then a playmaker like Keon Coleman would mean more than Vrabel.
