The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

For the Titans sake I hope y'all have a rb that can get yards in the red zone. Pollard wasn't that guy. Dallas struggled running last year in the red zone after they didn't resign Elliot. Short yardage was one thing Ezekiel Elliot was still good at.
What do you think Pollard does well?

What’s better signing a guy like Ridley or giving up draft picks AND having to sign a guy like Higgins to a long term contract?
Well ideally your 3rd year 1st round WR shows a pulse. But I feel you. I'm not for trading assets atm either.

Was good at pass protection. Decent rb in 2023 but looked much better in 2022. Noticeable dropoff in explosiveness and ypc. He had a broken leg in the playoffs in 2022 that might have slowed him down some last year. He can catch passes out of the backfield if needed. Still might not be a 3 down back. He performed best paired with a short yardage guy like Elliot, but again maybe he wasn't back to fully 100%.

Maybe he'll return to his previous form with more time to get over his 2022 broken leg.

Ha ha some fans were praising Ran

How bout keeping Andre Dillard, singing a an expensive RB when we could just get another stud in the 3rd round?

Oh yay we got a center!

No logical reason to be super hyped or down on Ran yet. We know nothing at the moment. But I do warn my fellow Titans fans to not fall so in love again like with JRob.

I'm highly against the Pollard signing, it just doesn't make sense to me. But if he and Spears pop together I'm willing to eat crow.

Wow, just saw the numbers for Pollard. Feel like we could have gone cheaper and gotten the equivalent player.
Possibly? Probably? That seems to be what's happening. Look at the top 30 rbs last year. Obviously McCaffrey and Henry are #1/2 and are paid well. Where are the rest of the high paid rbs? Who's taking up much of the top 20-30? Young guys in their first 2-4 years that are probably on low cost contracts. Remember last year when everyone was throwing a fit about guys like Saquon Barkley, Dalvin Cook, Ezekial Elliot, Josh Jacobs, Tony Pollard couldn't get high paying long term contracts? Where are those guys in relation to everyone else after seeing how 2023 rbs looked?

I don't know if rbs are better athletes now or if it's the transition of college/NFL offenses, but the draft ready good young rb pool seems to have improved.

We can use pass pro for sure. And maybe receiving from backfield is a help, too.

That's a lot of money for those qualities, though.

Some of y’all will find any reason not to be happy. He’s probably the best WR in free agency.

Who is unhappy? I’m sure you’re right. Pay him like a 30 year old injury prone receiver, and I’m good. Just don’t think you are getting a #1 like the Jags did.

Titans signing Pollard to that amount is hysterical. This franchise is beyond saving.
The money isn't bad. D'Andre Swift got the same amount.

Swift last year 1049 yards 4.6 YPC 5 TDs
Pollard last year 1006 yards (much more pass heavy offense though) 4 YPC 6 TDs.

Pollard had a great year in 2022 before he got hurt. Could be he wasn't 100% back, could be he just does better when he doesn't have the full workload. Could be a little bit of both. What makes me question this signing is Pollard and Spears both have pretty much the same skill set. Typically teams want a thunder and lightning combo. This isn't it. I don't hate it though. TP is a talented, young RB.

According to a Jax fan I work with he disappeared in some games. TIFWIW.

I guess I'm fine with getting him, just don't think we need to pay top tier money for him.

Seems less and less likely we'll get a trade partner..... Not even sure if we were seriously looking to trade back though.

If we are keeping Dillard it's got to be about the money, we are 7 m cap hit. We could swing it but you'd have to bring in a guy too. Think we just move him to the right side?
