The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Was a bad decision maker at Kentucky. Now he's Kentucky-ing all over the field for the Titans.
I'm still shocked at the pick..... Like the Titans had plenty of skill players available to pick at that spot and could have ridden Tannehill on an expiring deal into this past offseason in a heavy QB draft class.

In theory, you could have had a starting WR, starting LT, both starting TE's all on rookie deals while being able to get a top 10 pick to draft a decent QB....All while having tons of cap space

This narrative is built on an incredibly small sample size, but is also true of almost all WRs
Look at his performances last year. Hate to break it to you, but Ridley isn't among the league's best receivers. I think he could be because he certainly has the tools. He just hasn't been a consistent performer yet

I don’t think anyone is arguing that he’s Justin Jefferson, but Justin Jefferson wasn’t available in free agency

And yes “last year”=incredibly small sample size

Not saying I necessarily disagree, as I wanted to avoid Levis altogether, but the 2024 draft wasn't considered a super heavy QB draft in April of 2023.

Obviously we knew it was going to have 2 legit No. 1 overall type of talents in Williams and Maye. But beyond that it was fuzzy. Penix and Daniels weren't considered likely 1st round picks in April of 2023 (especially Daniels). Bo Nix was considered a late first/early 2nd at best. McCarthy was considered a likely 1st rounder, but he certainly wasn't considered an elite QB prospect. So it was basically Williams and Drake clearly at the top, then a tier down to McCarthy, and then a steep drop off after that.

The plan really fell apart on draft day. We already had a trade in place with AZ to move up to get Stroud if he fell to number 3, but the Texans ruined that plan.

They have a good WR unit. Boyd was a great pickup. But of course, as much arm talent as Levis has, QB is their issue

I've seen it in real time, his receivers are getting open, the difference between NFL open and college is different. He has the arm talent but he's not anticipating open receivers. That's an easily diagnosed route, is safety playing up, check...... did receiver win/gain inside leverage, check then rip the ball.

Levis is consistently not seeing this. He passed up good quick looks that gain extra yardage for lower percentage deep throws he probably shouldn't make into double coverage.

The receivers are winning. The line is giving him enough time to complete passes on at a much higher rate than the stats show. Levis is creating a lot of this pressure by not making his reads and hitting the receivers on time.

The line will get better as they gel and gain experience. I can only hope Levis does too.

His targets are still below average for the league as is his offensive line

LOL, no they aren't. Ridley is a bonafide #1. Hopkins is a very good #2. Boyd is solid WR3. Burks sucks, but he has more raw talent than just about any other WR4 in the league.

The issue is and will always be Levis. He is slow at play processing and makes terrible decisions under pressure.

Yup. I keep posting he does not read coverages well pre and post snap. Never has. Add in the boneheaded decisions and being a mediocre at best deep route passer.

This tells me Levis is on a short leash with the org.

I have to disagree with Ridley being a number one.

You're right. Last year is an incredibly small sample size, so let's add the prior two years to it (2021 and 2022).

The season he didn’t play and the season he only played in 5 games?

Yeah, that doesn’t help your claim

Even in the 5 game season he had 20 yards, 50, 50, 60, and 80.

If he can be productive as he was last game, just every third game, he would be finally fulfilling his ability to be WR1. So far he has been disappointing in that role. If he was was playing with a seasoned, talented QB, it would make a big difference. He doesn't have that. Jefferson, Adams, Lamb, etc......he did come into the league like one of them, but has been a disappointment.
