The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

I don't think it really matters. Ran makes all final decisions. Again, odds are Ran is gone if we don't show significant improvement over the rest of this season and/or 2025. That's simply the average GM lifespan.
But ran did not last season. This is effectively his first season as GM.

I guess what I'm saying is if Amy, the owner did not effectively define roles and Ran didn't control the roster and operations last year this is effectively his first year.

If Amy fires him after this season she sets herself to a complete failure moving forward. Any serious candidate would and should take any other option than this one.

Looking at the remaining schedule, this is likely a 5 win team at best. They are "competing" with the pats, browns, jags, panthers, raiders, giants and rams for the #1 pick in a year where there is no clear guy at that spot. This is not the year to be the worst team.
Nope, bad year for most positions.

Sounds like the Cowboys...

Again I am not disagreeing with you on what should happen. But realistically, history suggests Ran getting fired is likely to happen if we are terrible again in 2025. And GMs and Coaches will certainly have that in mind when making personnel decisions. It's often why you see teams with a coach/GM on the hot seat make risky trades and FA signings. They are trying to save their job.

I’ve been reluctant on giving up on Levis, but I’m getting there. Way too many throws last week for way too few yards. He needs to find the happy medium of reigning it in, while still taking shots at times.

Either way you should start him all season because it’s win/win. He either develops which is great or he doesn’t and you pick top 5

The Vrabel/Tannehill/Henry/Brown era feels like it never even happened. AFCCG appearance and No. 1 overall seed. A true superstar on the team in Derrick Henry. We are lightyears away from any of that now.

Yep ride him out but I think if starts playing even worse Callahan will put Rudolph in. Levis seems to be always late on his throws or making terrible reads. Maybe he figures it out but not holding my breath.

Here's the thing that is cementing the idea that Levis isn't an NFL QB. The o line was pretty bad, and so was Levis, but now the o line is starting to get it together and Levis is still Levis. He's not progressed with the o line. He's holding the team back at this point, literally the entire offense.

Idk, I think they’re still bad now

They aren't great, but they looked competent last game, and improved in the game before that compared to what they looked like the first two weeks of the season.

I can't really make a case for Levis having made any significant improvement like a can the o line..... That's the difference.

We switched to a more pass oriented offense but have a qb who cannot pass the ball.
Honestly wonder if we would have been ahead of the curve just sticking with Vrabel and playing his brand of boring ball. It feels like we made a too little, too late philosophy change. The league has been pass happy for long enough that change is inevitable.

I mean it was one of the reasons the Titans were so successful from '19-'21. They were zigging while the rest of the league was zagging, and were literally a few Mahomes patented highlight reel plays away from a Super Bowl appearance.

Another QB that is moving up the list for me this class is Garrett Nussmeier. His film vs Ole Miss was extremely impressive. The game tying TD throw with 30 seconds left was one of the most impressive throws I have seen from any college QB this year. That is a throw you don't even see a lot of NFL QBs make very often (including Levis).

If the Titans are bad enough to get the #1 pick and go QB, Sanders would be the likely choice. He has flaws and a meddling dad, but his football flaws are 100% easily fixable. He has incredible talent.

Draft well, play well. This org needs to learn the lesson.

Which is why most of us want to trade back for picks or move costly contract guys for them when rebuilding. Move up for the can't miss QB. Trade back for picks to rebuild. Stand pat to fill roster holes. Less dependence on FA's that way.

I think we should build a team through the draft this year and take a QB next year..the chiefs did it right
