I think you mean Cushenberry. He's a C and the only one on the line at the moment making serious dough. But even then, he's only making like an average of 14 million a year, so nothing major. Latham and Skronk are both on rookie deals that are paying roughly the same amount. NPF probably won't be brought back, but if he is, then he is making only 3.5 million.
Trey Smith is just such an obvious fit. He's gotta be priority #1 in FA.
Assuming Skronk is worthy of an extension, we still have another 3 years of affordable control and a potential franchise tag after that. So by the time we need to extend him, Cush's contract will already be up. Hopefully we are smart enough to spend a late round pick on a center over the next 2 years and try to develop him before Cush leaves. We could also move on from Cush after 2026 and save around 11 million in cap space, should we need to extend Skronk before his 5th year option.Sorry, I’m bad to do 2-3 things at once and leave words out of my post. I wasn’t meaning to say top 5-10 player, but rather top 5-10 draft pick. We have two of those right now. Skronski is going to be top half of the league in terms of salaries for guards because of how high he was drafted.
So my question is how much capital do we want to invest in the line?
I’m hoping for more value kinda moves on the oline. Maybe some mid tier veterans or 3rd round or later draft picks.
I will be honest, I hope we can resign or tag Trey Smith. We can't have ANOTHER O-Line position struggleAssuming Skronk is worthy of an extension, we still have another 3 years of affordable control and a potential franchise tag after that. Same for Trey Smith and Latham. Should Latham play well enough to warrant an extension, we should be able to move on from Trey (or restructure him) when it comes time to extend Latham.
I am all about drafting IOL in the mid rounds. TEs too. Probably the safest picks in the drafts, along with RB. But the right side of our OL is the biggest weakness on the team (well after QB). We have got to sure up the right side of the OL and Trey Smith the best available to do that.
