The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Linebacker Cody Barton reached agreement on a three-year, $21 million deal with the Tennessee Titans, sources told ESPN's Turron Davenport on Monday, confirming multiple reports.

Spending our money on LBs who are better against the run than the pass and OTs who can’t pass block doesn’t feel like the type of analytics driven approach I was hoping for

That's not a bad deal for Barton. 100+ tackles the last 3 years is pretty good. Even had a couple ints last year.

PFF grades have him 28th against the run out of all LBs (not bad) and 65th against the pass (that’s bad).

If we are going to spend money, a run stopping LB isn’t where analytics would tell you to place money.

Interestingly he was top 10 in the league in pass blocking win rate. I wonder if the issue is just that he has a high number of snaps and therefore the raw number of pressures is misleading rather than seeing his pressure rate?

Edit: probably not, PFF has him 65th in pass blocking grade
