The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Linebacker Cody Barton reached agreement on a three-year, $21 million deal with the Tennessee Titans, sources told ESPN's Turron Davenport on Monday, confirming multiple reports.

Spending our money on LBs who are better against the run than the pass and OTs who can’t pass block doesn’t feel like the type of analytics driven approach I was hoping for

That's not a bad deal for Barton. 100+ tackles the last 3 years is pretty good. Even had a couple ints last year.

PFF grades have him 28th against the run out of all LBs (not bad) and 65th against the pass (that’s bad).

If we are going to spend money, a run stopping LB isn’t where analytics would tell you to place money.

Super underwhelmed with the start of FA. Moore isn't a terrible signing, even though the contract is awful for a non top tier LT. We had to address LT or RT though.

But Barton is pretty mediocre. Wish we had been able to land Greenlaw or Bolton. We still need a safety and now all the top options are gone. We also need to replace Landry and we need a QB.

I am having a hard time seeing the vision here. I know FA has only started, but if we are taking Cam Ward at no. 1, we need to be spending to improve the team in order to give him a legitimate shot. Hopefully, we aren't taking Ward at no. 1.

I’m hoping we are trading back, but I’m afraid they’ll just take Ward. Teams that need a QB tend to talk themselves into believing whoever is available is the right guy.

I agree that the Moore move isn’t horrific despite the contract. If we are bringing in Ward, he needs protection. And this would allow us to move Latham to RT. So hopefully we are paying for a LT that also improves our RT. Fingers crossed.

Agree on Barton. Paying for tackles is a losing strategy.

The more the process goes on, I won’t hate taking Ward. But if we do, we need to be more aggressive with adding targets for him. A lot of solid WRs available right now

Lot of discussion about adding people through FA. When the new GM took over, he was clear in his philosophy...fill immediate roster holes with FA and build the team through the draft.

The Titans are easily looking at another 2 to 3 years of rebuild.

Looking like it's going to be Ward with no moves at QB. I'll obviously give him a shot but if it is Ward I fully expect us to be irrelevant for at least 3-5 more years.

Hopefully there's a trade or deal meeting worked out for a QB

I don’t think we have to be in any hurry to move at QB, even if we aren’t taking a QB.
